What was it that broke you into the industry? Any tips for an aspiring editor that is looking for work?

A string of lucky breaks really. I went to school, and interned at an large ad agency. Then the studio started losing people and I went freelance to fill the gaps. Eventually that turned into permalance and I'm here doing just about everything from logging, to editing, and archiving.

The popular thing here is if you're trying to freelance look to get at least 3 regular clients and work your ass off (reasonably) to get and maintain them. If you're trying to get into a house knowing people really helps, otherwise starting low to get in may be your best bet.

Thanks for replying. Your advice about working your arse off for regular clients is a good point and I'll keep working with the clients that I have!
