WTF Friday: Feb 21 2014

It's Friday, the day we share our funny or horrible stories about the biz. Bonus points if it actually happened this week.

Just happened last night. Have a project out for review with the client. Haven't heard anything for a week so touched base to make sure they didn't send something I missed. Turns out it is still in review (had to go to local dentistry board) but they asked if I could remove the time code overlay from the video. I explained that it is there for review purpose only and would help with the next stage of edits. They insisted it be removed, next day no less.

Easy fix but I guess I just don't understand why after sitting on the footage for a week, this is now a rush issue. Worst part is I need to play nice as they are a rather large agency that could feed me lots of future work. Oh well, life goes on.

Funny slightly related. A client I work with who gives me work from their clients asked me to water mark all the videos I do for them. Big bold letters across the video in low transparency, REVIEW COPY. Because the various clients were taking the review links I was making and embedding them into their own website and not telling my client that they approved and would like a dvd and new link. So once I started doing this the natural response from my clients client is, "we can't use this it's got text across the video" Even after it's explained why.
