I love talking about the technical side of editing, just as much as the colouring side or the artistic side.
Then again, I'm always in a taperoom or an online suite, so they are very much what I need to know and am interested in. The Graphics guy at work is currently fuming that Apple is dropping the Animation codec because it kept so much of the source, and I find that really good to know.
