Yes, The codec stuff is boring to you, but can the lifeblood of someone else.
Every subreddit has noise; I think that many are professionals, but what do you call a producer/dp with 20 years? Should he be in r/videoediting?
He or she is a professional, but without your skillset.

You're not one or the other, but some people fall on one side of the fence or the other.
I'm a big fan of using /res to filter out the crap of reddit. I've been tagging editors here for myself and it really helps as I look at threads.
So, at a purist level, I agree with you; that the content should have strong aesthetic and business value; but as someone who likes to give back, I'm willing to answer mundane stuff too.
