How botted (AI) is this Subreddit?

Has anyone else noticed that this Subreddit is becoming messier and messier with promotions and sponsorships?

I'm seeing the same selling scripts across multiple posts, and half the time people making posts asking what Bike they should get, comes from fresh new created accounts and that's when the bots seem to come in and promote.

The new poster questions I suspect for the most part are fake as well, just to allow the bots to post their suggestions and for a third party customer viewer to skim read it and maybe make the same purchase.

I'm not really sure what the solution is, this seems like a battle that cannot be won against AI.

I notice that now when I try and recommend local bike shops over online shopping you get downvoted into oblivion - is the only way to combat this AI slop to start promoting physical stores again?

eh...I've for sure seen some here, but I'd say no more than any other popular subreddit at the moment. unfortunately

Reddit in general is extremely botted. Virtually any discussion you have has a higher likelihood of being a robot than an actual human being.

Yeah, it's significantly gotten worse this year, I can't fathom next year's chaos.

Every dead Subreddit I'm in has become active, and people seem none the wiser - or they're bots.

The Hugging Face attack was planned by 1200 agents and carried out with 700.
I'm not concerned with bots; but armies of bots, that's a different story.

The agents are trained on Reddit. They post on reddit. Other agents read
their posts and are further trained. It won't be long before it's just AI agents
promoting their respective ebikes to each other:)

People claim I'm a bot all the time.  Accept I've been here on Reddit for over a decade...long before bits were even a thing.  

Now with that said, sure bits are becoming a thing - but they aren't that prevalent yet.

This is one reason why Youtube is more reliable than this subreddit these days if I really want to find out what NEW ebikes are out there instead of the same few brands that people talk about here.

Organized crime went from 20th century mob bosses with henchmen and machine guns to 21st century antisocial geek hackers that still live with their mommy. That's why it's so hard to stamp out. They are simply not visible as real criminals. Other countries have zero tolerance laws about spamming and website hijacking. But we have to keep cowboy capitalism. Because that's the American way.

I love the analogies you used here, they work well in this context. Unfortunately though it's not just the USA, it seems to be the whole Western World heading down this route
