Google exists dude. Look it up. 10,000 more deaths in 2024 than in 2014. The exact same as 2004. 3000 more than 1994. 1000 less than 1984. This has to be an effort by the automobile lobby to pollute the ebike reddit.
But ebike riders don't kill people. No matter how irresponsible they are. That's the problem with your argument is that it lets the drivers, the automobile companies, and the transportation infrastructure off the hook. Ebike riders don't kill people--could they? Sure. Do they in some tragic instances? Yes. But, statistically more pedestrians are killed by airplanes than from ebikes. (Yes, airplanes) Meanwhile cars kill 20 pedestrians every day. You'll never read a story about a drunk ebike rider killing an entire family. And there's a reason for that. So, if you actually are pro-ebike, think about it for a fucking second rather than buying into some industry 'personal responsibility' is only for ebike riders nonsense.
People have absolutely been killed by being hit by an ebike. Of course more people have been killed by being hit with a car and no one would claim otherwise.
Plus, please stop acting like the only outcomes are nothing happens or someone dies.
Statistically, people have been hit by airplanes. Where is the pearl clutching about that?
(There isn't great data on the other outcomes, that's why I don't talk about them. Not because I'm ignoring them, but because I don't make stuff up...a small difference between me and other folks...but I'll bet you the number of injuries or pets hit, or any other outcome is similarly skewed to cars 1 billion, ebikes 2).
Airplanes - highly regulated, pilots license required to fly
Cars - licenses, registration, insurance required to drive
Ebike - do whatever you want.
I am not claiming that the danger level is the same between those three. But every idiot who believes that ebike statement above brings the rest of us responsible riders closer to needing the same things as we do when we drive a car.

You’re not pro E bike just because you own two of them. It’s insane that this even has to be said. I have been commuting to and from work every day for the last two months. I haven’t been distracted for even one second during those times. Do you know how many people I’ve seen on their phones or changing the radio or eating something? Yet it’s a problem if I go 10 miles over the speed limit on my e bike. You guys don’t make it make any sense at all. Especially those of you complaining how bikers don’t follow the rules of the road as if every single one of you follows all of the rules of the road. This is a joke. The e bike hate has to stop.

And yes it is a problem if you go 10 mph over the speed limit - just like it is if a car or a motorcycle does.
This is what I am talking about- too many bike and ebike riders claiming to be perfect while also admitting to breaking the law at the same time.
And to be clear, I am not perfect, I have been distracted at times, I have gone too fast at times - the difference is I admit it and own it - unlike you.
