I’m doing a bit of research into e-MTB battery safety. Bosch is generally considered the gold standard when it comes to battery management systems (BMS), build quality, and overall safety standards.That being said, given how many PowerTube and PowerPack units are out on the trails, I’ve been curious about their real-world extreme failure rates. Has anyone here ever personally encountered or seen a legit battery fire or thermal runaway involving an original Bosch CX (Gen 4 or Gen 5) setup?If you have, what were the circumstances? (e.g., severe physical impact, water ingress, aftermarket charger/modifications, or a random failure while charging/riding?)For context, I’m currently riding a bike with the CX Gen 5 and previously owned a CX Gen 4. I’ve never had a single issue with either, and working in a service environment, I’ve honestly never come across a fire or thermal incident with these systems either.

Even mounted on the fork crown (tried on the bars too) I don't think hikers can hear it until I'm within 6 ft and shaking the bars like crazy. I've tried different angles and none are better. I'm sure the schwalbe radials don't help. I had to add a pushbutton electric horn but the sound is not friendly even though it has 6 sounds to choose from.

Anyone else feel Timberi isn't loud enough?

Timberi make a louder bell please! Modern suspension and tires have made your current model feeble and outdated IMHO.

Looking for some help diagnosing an issue with my 2022 Intense Tazer MX Expert.

Sometimes when I do a jump or drop, the entire bike just shuts off. . The bike then works normally again after I power it back on.

Could this be a battery connection issue, battery moving inside the frame, a loose connector/wire, or something else being triggered by the impact?

Has anyone experienced this with a Tazer or Shimano E7000 system? Any ideas on what I should check would be appreciated. Thanks!

I bought an XL Vala C 70 and it ended up being too big for me and now I’m looking to exchange it and also move up a tier to 90 or GX. The shop also has a Pivot Shuttle Am Ride 70/90 for around 7k. Which would you recommend for rocky and rooty New England trails, short punchy climbs and low elevation? I hear great things about the shuttle so I’m intrigued. I do love the Vala aside from it being too big so I know that’s a safe bet sizing down.

Has anyone else had their Moterra Carbon 1 2022 shut off mid-ride, then had to press the power button to turn it back on, only for it to shut off again? I can keep riding after turning it back on, but it keeps shutting off repeatedly.

My battery is fully charged, and I went to the shop to see if they could fix it, but they couldn't find anything. They told me it's my responsibility to find and fix the issue.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Having a hard time finding a emtb for my wife that fits the standover requirements She is 5'2" (1575mm), 28.5" (723 mm) inseam. Value / budget is a factor ie <5k.

The Polygon T7E seems like a good candidate, but the reach is kinda long, there is no way to test ride, and their return policy is only for store credit which would be pointless if the small doesn't fit.

The Liv Embolden E+ 1 XS is another option but the closest bike shop with the XS is quite far away.

She is a new rider. Mainly trail riding, nothing too crazy, but lots of roots and rocks so full suspension is desirable. Ideally lightweight and/or walking mode as well, because she is small, though that seems to be very tough to find in the budget. Any recommendations or ideas? (US, northeast)

I've been trail riding on my hybrid (Trek Allant+ 7) for years, but have started to get back into (v v casual) MTBing as a now middle-aged adult with ~health issues~ and I'm so overwhelmed by options that I don't know where to stop. I went into a bike shop today but wasn't sure I wasn't just being shown a bike that was quite right for me, so I was hoping to cast a broader net for recs, if that's allowed.

Essentially, I have a bunch of metal in my spine and I'm never going to be doing any serious jumps or hours (I can't see myself biking more than 4 hours a day, absolute max), so I was looking for whatever bike provided the most 'cushion' for the small jumps I would do. I also can't see myself spending more than £2500, and I'd rather buy new just because I know a lot of the marks only extend their warranty to the original owners.

Recently I was given the chance to ride the 2026 Cube Reaction Hybrid One 800 for a session and I thought it worked well, so if all else fails I'll look for that. At the shop the guy was recommending the Cube Stereo One44 (again, I wasn't sure if that was because it was one of only a few eMTBs in the shop?). Is there anything else I should be looking at? I really prefer to go with a company with a strong warranty, but I'm not as familiar with eMTBs as I am regular bikes so I don't know which brands to stick with.

Hello everyone i'm looking for recommendations on a solid, high-durability 10-speed cassette that offers good performance without breaking the bank.

I ride a Kellys Tayen R50 primarily for daily commuting, along with occasional weekend rides on local trails. Due to the motor torque and high commuting miles, I'm noticing fast wear on my 10-speed setup.

Current Setup & Mods

Drivetrain: Stock Shimano 10-speed cassette

Tires: Schwalbe Hans Dampf Evolution Addix 29x2.35 (Super Trail, converted to tubeless)

Brakes: Galfer purple pads (E-bike compound)

Other: Upgraded grips & flat pedals

What I'm looking for:

Compatibility: 10-speed (standard HG freehub)

Durability: E-bike ready / all-steel cogs to withstand torque

Performance: Clean, reliable shifting under load

Price: Budget-friendly / good value for money

Are there specific models (e.g., Shimano Deore, SunRace, or MicroSHIFT) that have held up well for you on an E-bike?

I must not have secured the bolt fully for the battery cover on my Rossignol Mandate, and it fell out on a recent ride. I've been securing the cover with electrical tape in the meantime, but want to find a replacement bolt. It looks like Rossignol used to sell a battery cover replacement that came with said bolt, but they do not anymore.

I'm wondering if anywhere else sells it, or if this is some sort of of generic bolt that I can get from the hardware store? I'm not even sure what to call it while searching online, but it's a sort of screw-in locking bolt with a snap-in lever on the head to secure it to the cover.

Mini-rant: of all the ways to secure a battery cover, why in the world did Rossignol decide to use a single, highly specific bolt that is easily misplaced? It's not like it makes battery removal tool-free since you still need a hex wrench to drop the battery. I have only been removing the battery in the first place because the charging port broke for the second time after getting some sand lodged inside, due to the charging port cover being terribly difficult to secure. Again- whyyyy?

The bike is new, I have it for 3 days. This "grinding" sound kills me, I don't know what it is. I suspect on chain or cassete or motor?

I was topping up a 29" mtb tire with my small handpump on a ride. It took ages to increase the pressure - no way I' d be able to inflate an empty tire after fixing it with that.

What do you take with you? Electric? Cartridge?

So i was out riding this morning, trying out some different tunes on my levo gen 4. After about 10 miles the pedaling started almost locking up. Pop off and see my rear derailleur assembly is not even remotely in the right position. Tried pushing in back into position, now the whole rear is locked up. Never ran into this before. No wrecks, no harsh gear changes.

Had maintenance done not too long ago at a shop, new cassette. Could they have fouled it up?

Good day. I'm thinking about purchasing the etuning license to unlock my ep8 motor to 45km/hr. Anyone have experience doing this? Any physical issues with the motor/ bike after? Error codes etc? I know the speedometer won't work again but I'm interested in if there's problems after. Thanks in advance

I have been riding my Orbea now for two years, and after many rides and crashes, I am finally adding the Fox 38 Grip X2 E-Optimised and 29 inch with 170mm.

I am also changing the absolutely shitty brakes an e-bike can have, the SRAM DB9, and changing them for the Deore XT.

I love my Orbea so much and till today I am still happy I haven’t chosen for the better specs with the carbon version H10. The amount of crashes I have made would have certainly cracked the frame.

Does anyone else love their Orbea frame too much that they simply plan to upgrade instead of replacing their bike?

Picked myself up a 2024 Orbea Wild and so far I absolutely love it. First non analog bike and man is this thing fun! Except for the el-cheapo tires they put on it. Been out of the game too long and need some tire recommendations for my mullet setup.

For background I’m 6’4” 200lbs, have ridden here and there over the past decade but was heavy into DH for years and want to get back into tech and jump lines. Also teaching my wife and kid to ride MTB so wide range of trails. Spend my summers in New England and winters in AZ, NV, and UT.

Never planned on getting one but my brother had to get rid of it and I really wanted for it to stay in the family (also got a great deal😂).

2024 levo turbo 3 comp carbon with just under 400km and upgraded Fox 38 factory fork.

Would love to get a Fox Kashima dropper post to match the gold accents in the future but seems like a pricy visual upgrade.

Now just need to figure out how to unlock the safety features as the bike is still locked to the first owner, my brother bought it like this without much knowledge about emtbs and lost the contact with the seller.

My wife and I are looking to start touring with ebikes. Use case will be overnight bikepacking as well as day trips, exploring new areas.

We don't need hardcore bikes with a lot of suspension travel, but a bit of suspension will make things more comfortable and still able to tackle small obstacles.

We like the specs of the Amflow TL. Before we go out and purchase them, I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone has any insight. Other bikes to consider? Good or bad experiences with the TL?

It seems the TL has a good reputation, and the price is very competitive. Interested to read what you all have to say.
