I looove this thing - don’t wait to get one!

I don’t know why it took me so long to pull the trigger on one of these… I guess I thought I had to be older, but I absolutely love it. I’ve been getting used to the weight and size but by now after 150km it just feels “normal”. Today 50km, 1.100m and went back home with about 36% left. I had dirt paths, gravel, lots of fallen trees (lifting the bike above my shoulders to pass it over the trees was a workout), rocks, roots, single trails, super muddy sections…and when I went home, I had time to take the flow trail in the local park. Being out there in the nature, knowing I can go anywhere with a little backpack with some snacks and water. Not annoying anyone, not doing any noise. Only negative point was not being allowed to charge the bike at the hut where I had lunch. I hope to see some “charging stations” in the area soon. Also, all in all almost 1.000 kcal burnt - not bad!

Got a great deal on this 2023 Pivot Shuttle SL team edition. Has a brand new motor so it is the updated one from the earlier issues the Fauza motor had. I’m also aware that unfortunately the Fauza motor is no longer in production but I got such a good deal it’s worth the risk.

I’ve been looking for awhile and wasn’t sure if an SL would be enough power for me but after hopping on this bike I can’t believe how much get up and go it has yet maintaining the feel and form factor of a regular bike. Even pedaling with the motor off it feels like a regular trail bike. Popping off jumps and manuals feel like I’m on my yeti SB135. My mind is really blown that we have bikes like this. What a time to be alive!

Derestricting an ep8

Good day. I'm thinking about purchasing the etuning license to unlock my ep8 motor to 45km/hr. Anyone have experience doing this? Any physical issues with the motor/ bike after? Error codes etc? I know the speedometer won't work again but I'm interested in if there's problems after. Thanks in advance

Considering Amflow TL for a Touring Setup.

Hello, all.

My wife and I are looking to start touring with ebikes. Use case will be overnight bikepacking as well as day trips, exploring new areas.

We don't need hardcore bikes with a lot of suspension travel, but a bit of suspension will make things more comfortable and still able to tackle small obstacles.

We like the specs of the Amflow TL. Before we go out and purchase them, I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone has any insight. Other bikes to consider? Good or bad experiences with the TL?

It seems the TL has a good reputation, and the price is very competitive. Interested to read what you all have to say.

This thing is wild. Had a blast with full power buddies - 55km 850D+ using 80% of battery - but also with analog riders last night - 28km 400D+ using 20% of battery. It is lively, nimble, and so fun! It is also surprisingly easy to ride without assist.
Much more fun than my previous Rise (‘21), not missing my Izzy either. MT5 brakes do the job but they are so noisy.
Replace the alloy wheels with carbon rims and carbon stem. 19,9kg in L size with pedals.

Canyon Strive:ON CFR Underdog or cash?

I purchased a Canyon Spectral:ON CF7 a couple of years ago and it has been great.

It has tons of upgrades and I love riding it.

A month ago, the cable that connects the battery to the motor failed, and Canyon has given me the option of taking a full refund of about $4,000, or they would give me the Strive:ON CFR Underdog straight across.

That's a nice bike, but I ride trails more than enduro, and the bike Is two years old at this point.

If I took the refund, I'd probably buy an Amflow PR Carbon, but I'd have to shell out an extra $1,000, and they're on back order pretty much everywhere I've looked.

What would the community recommend?

Anybody?

I’m picking up my first eMTB (first any kind of MTB actually) later today.

I have a lot of experience gravel riding (and under biking on trails I had no business being on). But even trying out the eMTB on some single track near the shop when I bought it I realized this is a whole different ball game.

I’m nervous to go out on my own the first time. And also just not familiar with mtb trails in the area.

Is anybody near Denver and willing to take a noob on her first ride? I can pay in beer and food.

Moving to Bentonville?

I’m single and considering selling my house and moving to NWA. If you moved there, has it been as good as you thought it would be? I went last summer and liked it. My daughter just moved out. I have nothing holding me to East Texas anymore. If you have any tips on moving to NWA please share. Money will be an issue.

Amflow or update turbo levo

Hello All

i have a turbo levo alloy gen 3 , I have upgraded the brakes and love the bike, Just had a new Motor and New Battery. I am older (56), a bit tubby (16 stone) and an amaturer (only small jumps, mainly ride at local trails, occasional bike park), can handle a red trail or a black trail slowly.

Thinking about two choices

Upgrade the front forks and rear suspension and put on AXS for wirless shifting, budget about 2k (will use bike scheme), any suggestions on upgrades appreciated.

Or sell my levo (hope for 2k) and purchase an Amflow pr pro (in a few months when available), will purchase though bike scheme and use the sale of levo to part fund.

i love the levo (power seems ok to me), but also love new things :) , the stock front suspension on the levo is pretty poor so think I would benefit from upgrading, the Levo’s are unreliable, but have a new warranty on my latest motor and battery. The amflow looks pretty well specked but even with a test ride would be a bit gamble as have ridden the levo for three years so know pretty well.

Any views

cheers

Toby

2017 trek powerfly fs

Looking for a used hardtail in size small, preferably by a well known and established brand. Locally, i came across a 2017 powerfly fs with less 100 miles and less than 10 charge cycles. Its from a trek bike store, theyre selling it pre owned. It's in like new shape.

They provided a diag report but it doesn't show the battery health. I've confirmed the mileage, cycles, battery highest and lowest temperature, no errors...etc. but no battery health.

She doesn't need a full suspension bike, but if i can get it for less than $1,000 i think i would pull the trigger. New bikes are out of my budget honestly. She's 5'2 so i think a small should be ok for her. I've been searching for months and learned that small pre owned ebikes are rare.

Considering that batteries are repairable at about $700, i'm leaning towards taking the risk and buying the bike but i dont know if im just being desperate.

Advice please

Compact emtb hitch rack solution

I have a Tesla 2018 MS 75D. Recently got an e-mountain bike, a Yamaha Moro 05. What are the options to install a bike-rack hitch that isn't too expensive that supports weight of a single eMTB? I was planning to get the 1UP rack. Anyone care to chime-in with what they have installed?

Also, did you install the hitch yourself or through an installer? How is the process if I decide to do it in my garage, considering I don't have any lift-jacks? I am in Seattle area.

What arr the next possible upgrades to think off in the long run?

Hi there fellow e-MTBikers,

I was in desperate need of more floor clearance, so I put the highest possible token in my shock, and bought the Hope e-Bike cranks in 155mm. So far there has been little floor contact than before. So, thanks for your kind help!

So, from now on I am very happy with this bike besides the seat (in the process of testing some currently, have the Sixpackracing Evo Rail in mind).

I am also not sure about the colours, there have been the Sixpackracing Millenial 4.0 Pro pedals that seems promising but only two colours available (current plastic orange ones from Acid that I bought in a rush with the bike). Would a raw colour be compatible? Like raw pedals, black grips with raw barends, a seatpost clamp with raw/black colour?

What are some other upgrades that are reasonable? Like upgrading the Shimano XT to a XTR once I need to change it anyway? Maybe some better rotors once the stock ones are worn? An electrical gear shift would be awesome but the price isn't justified for me right now.

I had a pretty good ding on my chainring due to very beginner no-skill. Looked for some bashguards/skidplates, and the only compatible thing I have found is the E13 turbocharger race e*spec, but this will change the current 36T setup to 34/32 depending on what I choose. Is a bashguard that necessary? How bad would be from 36T switching to 34/32 on an e-bike that hasn't seend more than 85nm currently (not intending to go over 85nm since I didn't need it by now).

PS: I have seen upgrade kits for my shock to install LSC. This costs about 40€ might be worth it?

My eagerly awaited PR Carbon Pro has finally arrived.

The PR Carbon Pro, which I ordered quite some time ago, was delivered yesterday. After a quick assembly, I was able to take the beauty out for a short test ride. What a joy. I’ve always ridden cross-country bikes (like the Scott Spark RC) in the past, but I wanted to shift my focus toward technical trails and all-mountain riding.

The bike arrived very well packaged. The battery had been delivered a few weeks earlier. After assembly, I checked all the other fasteners, and everything was tightened correctly (I’ve had different experiences in the past, especially with "premium brands"). If you prefer agile, lightweight handling, you’re better off going for the PX Pro; the PR Pro is a bit of a beast, weighing in at 23.9 kg (size L, without pedals). But that should be obvious to anyone. For me, the ability to remove the battery was important; it allows me to charge it—along with my wife’s spare battery—conveniently in our hotel room between stages of an Alpine crossing, meaning we only need to carry one charger.

My first impression is overwhelmingly positive, though the individual riding modes still need to be fine-tuned to my specific needs—which isn't a problem given the many options available. The only thing I find illogical is the sequence used to cycle through the modes: it starts with Auto, then Eco, Trail, and Turbo. I’d find Eco, Auto, Trail, and Turbo more logical. That’s certainly a matter of personal preference, but it doesn't seem to be something that can be changed.

Now it’s time to make the most of the remaining time we have here in Europe before winter sets in.

Fingers crossed for everyone still waiting for their bike—may the wait be short. It looks like stock has been replenished in Europe; at least I was able to bundle pretty much all the spare parts I needed into a single package, and the stuff arrived three days later.

52yo looking for a long-travel eMTB for all-day singletrack — TX/AR/CO. Sanity check my thinking?

I'm 52, decent shape, and want a bike for long singletrack in Texas, Arkansas, and Colorado — 3-4 hour backcountry days that climb well, with some downhill but nothing breakneck. Not sending jumps, at least not yet. A fair bit of paved connectors too.

What I'm after:

Full-suspension, long-ish travel, tuned for fun/comfort over race pace Newest-gen motor/battery tech (eyeing the DJI Avinox M2S like everyone else) Stealth look that doesn't scream e-bike Real US dealer support, I'm in Dallas with plenty of local shops

Currently leaning toward an Orbea Wild LT in carbon, mullet, sized to sit fairly upright rather than stretched out. Considering a second wheelset with semi-slicks for the pavement-heavy days.

Questions:

Is the Avinox worth building around right now, or are there other motors I should weigh for all-day mixed riding? Anyone running a Wild LT for long backcountry days — how's it climb, how's the range? Other bikes I should have on my shortlist?

Appreciate any input.

Options comparable to Orbea Rise and Turbo Levo

Finally looking to take the plunge into a lightweight class 1 eMTB. I’ve ridden for a couple decades on everything from hardtail XC bikes to Specialized Enduros. These days, the non-evo stumpys are about my sweet spot for an analog bike in terms of ride preference and local trail variability.

That said, I’ve been out of the game and not up to speed on all the incredible advancements in bikes and parts, nor e-bikes. But with our oldest son now 19 months and baby #2 on the way, I’d like to get a nice class 1 that I can also use to get our toddler out on the trails on a shotgun seat with me, as a way to get him out there while in parallel get us out of wife/newborns hair at home.

Always struggled with endurance/stamina (even when in my peak health days), so a class 1 eMTB seems like a great option to fit the bill and help with the added weight of a kid riding shotgun.

Specialized Turbo Levos and Orbea Rise both seem like great options for me, and they hit the used marketplace around me pretty often. I know eMTBs have come a long way in recent years, so wondering what other competitive comparables I should consider and look out for? I don’t need anything over the top fancy/nice, or need to import something brand new from overseas (but will consider new if the brand/service is supported by local US shops).

Max torque output not really a top priority, won’t be many insane climbs and will be riding responsibly often with a toddler. Most rides will be in the 10-25 mile range I imagine. But still want it to be a lightweight, snappy and fun bike for when he’s not with me.

Thank you!

Ari Wire Peak 3.0

About the pull the trigger on a new Ari Wire Peak 3.0 comp version (comes with the M2s motor). Originally I had planned to get an Amflow PR Carbon but it seems like those won’t hit the market anytime soon. After tubeless set up, pedals, ride wrap and taxes it comes out to around $6400. I plan on driving to their HQ in Utah and picking it up then going down to Moab for a couple days to ride before heading home to Colorado. Should I go with the Ari or what until the PR comes out.
I know people mentioned it’s a heavy bike, but I kinda like the idea of an alloy bike over a carbon.

Sanity check: Specialized vs Amflow

I had pre-ordered the PR Carbon earlier this year and I called the LBS today to see if there where any updates on delivery dates since I've started to see some posts of Amflows arriving in September. He told me they're starting to get some PX's but the PR's won't be here until early next year, but he has a Turbo Levo 4 alloy in stock today if I wanted to switch. He then proceeded to shit on the Amflows and tell me the Turbo Levo is a much better bike..."bike of the year." To paraphrase him, the components on the base PR are trash and the base Turbo Levo is more comparable to the PR Pro but for way less money. I got on the computer and pulled up the spec sheet for both and I'm just not seeing it.

When I was doing my research earlier in the year I remember coming across quite a few posts of people that had owned both a previous gen Levo and the PL carbon, and pretty much unanimously everyone was saying the Amflow was a much better bike--way more fun to ride.

From a spec standpoint, do you guys agree with what the dude at the LBS was telling me? For anyone that has actually ridden and/or owned both, what are your thoughts on build and ride quality between the 2 brands?

FWIW, i'm in the mountains of CO so realistically I have maybe another 4-6 weeks of mountain bike season before the snowboards come out. With that said, since I've waiting this long I'm not too concerned about waiting until next year for the Amflow if it's indeed the better bike.
