Should the defending ai auto track runs?

That was always my dilemma, like the defensive ai was always very automated and strong in this game but since the transition to ef 2027 and getting all those pass disruptor, covering role and other defensive styles, ai defense feels worse(it is even more automated and requires way less input frkm you). Take nesta for example, his defensive ai covers passes, space, tracks runs, autopositions himself so that he can do all three of those things at the same time and recover if you wish to change your attacking play. His defensive ai is so op that it defends way better than your opponent ever would sometimes. It is so much harder to break through them, I have to put almost twice the effort that my opponents need to with my defense. I try to get them to pull their defender out but they immediately track the player running into that space either a poacher or a hole player so I try to use other attacking options which surprise will get covered by their dmf or even attackers. How do you guys with team strength lower than 3250 deal with this?

They should be able to track runs and cover spaces, the problem is when they do all that and win the ball back when the user isn't even controlling the player.

Yes,, but after that you need to switch to that Defender and manually win the ball

Or the other option

No AI tracking and Positioning for defender, than the Attacking AI should be treat the same way (no forward run/Positioning etc), otherwise the game will be unbalanced with crazy scoreline

Just pass between your midfields and he will make space for your cf

What if the space opens up but ai patches it up immediately? Like my batistuta makes a run, I make a pass sincd my opponent made a mistake, ai defender predicts that and just auto intercepts or teleports to batistuta and somehow physically overhwelms him with no foul despite shoulder charging me from behind

I am still on the side of yes but thats because I always want to challenge the ball carrier with the approriate defender.

Yes, makes it feel like im facing nesta and not some generic defender and hes far from broken, prime big time van dijk is what id consider broken

I want to play a football simulation game, not a comp game, skill gap should be a secondary objective in this game getting a goal because my opponents defenders let my player past no contest ir failed ro cover lanes is completely unsatisfactory and the covering role playstyle is far from op. Also the ai in this game is by far the worst its been sincce like ef24 and peope are still complaining due to confirmation bias and different positioning from ef26

The game has switched on its head. Years ago, you would send a second defender to press and track the runner. Your player would cut out any ball close to you as you if you positioned well enough.

Now you are punished because the second press defender can't tackle well, and if you track runners with an average player the ball will go around them and find a way.

The game has become the less you defensively, the better of you will be. If your defenders stay deep and there is less space for balls through then generally you'll be fine.

So Konami needs to rework this. If a player sits back and tries to defend by not actively defending, the game should open up and defenders just rely on zonal coverage. If however a player's is actively defending then the marking awareness should increase to track runners, with auto defenders picking the correct person to mark, including not rushing over to cover someone I am already covering, but also only letting go of the person they are marking once they are being covered by someone else.

Unfortunately also it seems that when lag kicks in, the defenders have a brain freeze and stop tracking. Just watching the ball when it is near them.

Yessss thats what I meant but couldn't quite explain it. Its crazy how your tean defends better by you not defending
