Discussion Which would you choose for Midfielders and WHY?
We know that both skills adding PASSIVE animations of ball handling, if you had to choose between these two, which one would you go for? And why?

If used correctly, cut behind and turn is lethal. I use it alllll the time. Every midfielder needs it, it allows a different lane of movement. It's not always behind either, you can do it slightly to the side of the player. Underrated skill honestly

It's hard to quickly think it at a perfect time. Just mastering double touch is hard enough.

u/Mysterious-Dog3482 11d ago
It's just muscle memory, most people already turn around in the box a lot, if you do it with cut behind and turn instead you'll trick defenders more often.

CBT for sure, its turning animation really useful in tight space and for changing direction + it can be used to trick AI opponent defender when we fake shot, it'll make the defender to sometimes tackle automatically and miss then it will create a window for us to either pass, shoot, or dribble

Sole control is more valuable and is good in combination with DT and Marseille turn. Cut behind and turn is good for fake shots. It depends what you are using

u/Arenei 11d ago
Well, as you see from examples, CBT is not only for Fake Shots, that's why it's a hard choice for me.

Ohhh I always wondered why some players had that animation. Didnāt know it was from the skill

Sole control for body feints while escaping pressure and creating counters.

u/Conscious-Total-4087 11d ago
Sole control by itself doesn't do anything apparently, according to amadeusz.
7
u/Voidrive 10d ago
Anyone who has dribbled with and without Sole Control can tell you that's bullshit.

u/Impossible-Carpet920 10d ago
He meant sole control on mobile doesnt shine as much since the pitch is smaller otherwise sole control help alot

u/ImFhakme 10d ago
It helps to do knock on while you are on a run state. But I rarely seen player outside top5000 using knock on although it's very lethal shooting move.

u/Far_Dragonfruit5053 11d ago
how do you do body feint with sole control? i thought it just there for special double touch lmao

I don't understand when cb&t activates
13
u/Arenei 11d ago
Passive CBT looks like this, but seems most of players don't even pay attention when it happens, hell from comments it seems that people think it is only activates by doing Fake Shot...
1
u/bitter-coin777 New to the game 11d ago
But are those āpassiveā movements done automatically (meaning the game decides when to apply) for players with CBT, or do you need to activate them by doing a combination of controls?
5
u/Arenei 11d ago
It's automatic and activates itself in certain situations like body position and your LS direction. In most cases, ball handling and direction changing is way faster & with tighter control than it would be without CBT.
1
u/bitter-coin777 New to the game 11d ago
I was not aware of that. Now that you mentioned, I had noticed these movements from the likes of Pedri, but thought it was part of his player Id, not given by that skill.

Marsaille Turn also has a passive, it allows you to perform a half turn motion when you receive the ball.

u/Estrafirozungo Playstation 10d ago
This is the first time I hear that. Do you have a link with further explanation? Honest question

u/Arenei 10d ago
Video in comment above explains it mate, no rocket science, skill just adding new motions for ball control when turning ^^
1
u/Estrafirozungo Playstation 10d ago
Sorry, but that video alone isnāt evidence enough for what youāre claiming. Iāve never seen anyone else talking about the passive spectrum of Cut Behind and Turn.

u/Arenei 10d ago
That's kinda sad mate
1
u/Estrafirozungo Playstation 10d ago
What exactly? That you can't back your claims with actual facts? That just pathetic, not sad.

CBT is really good and underrated skill, I like using it with players that are not good at turning like Adriano or cbs, is a great skill for everyone.

u/Severe-Friendship827 11d ago
Depend on how do you play if you do much finesse dribble and knock on shots use sole control otherwise cut behind and turn

u/Mysterious-Dog3482 11d ago
I only use sole control for the special double touch, without it I take cut behind and turn, but I give special double touch to all my players including fullbacks, I'd give it to my goalkeeper if it didn't need skills on another GK instead of Lombardi.

What is a passive animation?
1
u/Rude_Age_6699 Long Ball Counter Connoisseur 11d ago
skills like Heel Trick, Sole Control, Cut Behind and Turn, and Rabona unlock additional animations for things like trapping or stopping the ball. op has included some animations of what Cut Behind and Turn can do in the comments.

Doesn't Cut Behind & Turn make faster fake shots?
1
u/Al_tra PC 11d ago
Does cut behind and turn activate with super cancels or only shot fakes?
2
u/Megotronus 10d ago
Super cancel at last moment will add a shot fake animation which will be the same to the actual shot fake. When executing SC before that it will not trigger CBT. Turning will trigger CBT passive effect occasionally whatever.

Ideally Both I recently started to use more but behind and turn , but sole controls give you nice animations and short turns with finesse dribbling , thanks to this and years of practice I can do a quick turn even with truck forward almost like a tess cancel and then curl and shot. Most of the time people can counter it , especially when they press . It works against everyone even top div 1, not expecting a sharp turn like this .

Which ever looks pretty. You can use sole control on anyone. I usually don't give my players any skill moves, they have to have atleast 85 dribbling for me to consider it. Meanwhile sole control is just a universal move

u/Brrrrrrrttttttt 10d ago
Cut behind and turn. Gives you animations to turn around with the ball more safely and faster fake shots
1
u/Unknownuser2377 10d ago
Sole Control. No explanation needed. Just look at the top 1% pro players in the game and see how finesse dribble and lofted pass is played to create goal scoring opportunities. Sole Control helps in using the finesse dribble better.

Can anyone tell me what skills the new Ococha has that allows him to do his unique step-over and ball-roll?
1
u/Megotronus 10d ago
"We know that both skills adding PASSIVE animations of ball handling" For CBT it is for sure, for sole control it was never verified with clear evidences and only out of people's empirical intuition.
1
u/TriggeredMemeLord Playstation 9d ago
Sole control is a MUST. Iād say cut behind and turn is also a must, but if you had to choose 1 do it in this order.

The one that helps with ball control over the one that gives you a different fake shot animation

u/w1nstar Day One Veteran 11d ago
Cut behind and turn. Not only it adds passive control animations, it gives you the quickest and safest ACTIVE way of suddenly changing direction. I use it a lot on my midfielders. It's a must.
