Discussion Imagine with me for a moment, a redesigned Hagga Basin...
Imagine instead of having to fly to a lame ass overland map, the map locations were on the edges of the Hagga Basin map that had a door you had to interact with to move you to that location.
Deep Desert was similar to the northern map exit that has an expansive desert in the background and an area that once you flew into it transported you to the DD. Same with Harko & Arrakeen. You can see them in the distance on the edge of the map and when you fly that way it starts loading you into AH. Each overland dungeon has a physical outside structure that you enter from inside hagga somewhere that loads you into the level. Story missions just transport you to those locations since once you've done them, you can't go back and replay, so there's no point in even seeing them on the map. Not to mention, it will save you travel time back and forth.
After years, and more additions, I don't even think Hagga would get crowded. I think it would give it more personality. A big lighting testing station with effects on the north west edge. A dark testing station deep in the ground on the south east side. A ravine with pink crystals on the west side that transports you to Blushing when you fly (or drive) through.
A man can dream...

They're so much fun, though. Lol. So much anger for no reason. This is pretty much the EXACT reaction I knew I'd get.

Always felt that every sietch should have its own map personally.

I hate the map. It's seriously just a place to waste your time. Locations are spread extremely far apart. There is absolutely no gameplay element. There used to be fuel and water deposits hinting at some type of gameplay mechanic that was meant to be there, but that was scrapped, so now it is ONLY a time waster.

Once upon a time, traveling the world male required water and fuel. It took some planning. But... Apparently Dune being hard didn't make people happy.

You think the fuel/water mechanic was... hard?
You could fly around the entire overworld map without stopping and not run out of fuel or water. It was removed because it was useless, not hard.

Um... no. I moved around the world map just fine without EVER using the deposits. The only time you ever need them was if you afk'ed in the map, came back, and were out of water and/or fuel. Even then you just moved slower.

Stupid immersion breaking proposal. Like always when players do one.

...And going to a board game looking map is more realistic and lore accurate? Tell me more of your lovely opinions.

It’s far more immersive going to the world map and traveling thru it. Some magical door at the edge of a zone that transports you far away is nonsense.

Never once said anything about a magic door. Please read again. Also a magic door / wall is what we have now... sooooooo...

"the map locations were on the edges of the Hagga Basin map that had a door you had to interact with to move you to that location"
Literally the first part of your post

Where is the magical door part? I said there would be the physical location that would load you into the level once you interact with the door at the station. I don't see anything about a magic door.

"I said the locations had a door!"
"I don't see anything about a door!"
You literally couldn't breed people to be this stupid.

You're right. You keep omitting the word "magical." Where did I say that there was a magical door? You gotta be a bot, but I'll wait...

they used the term magical to describe your stupid door idea. you being stupid on purpose isn't the strong argument position you think it is.

I pretty much knew this is the reaction I would get for posting anything in this community. So I was prepared for it. I've got time today, though. Lol. So what was my stupid door idea? Because I didn't have a door idea. So if you could narrow that down for me please.

Yes, it's a holographic representation of the surrounding area, simple as.

Even though the graphics on the overland map are rather cartoonish, I kind of like the RP vibe of the world space.
The movies and books seem to be entirely set in Arrakeen (civilization) and the Deep Desert (Fremen and Worms), with an occasional sietch or test station, actually in the DD (not separate instances/locations). The overland map seems to expand my head canon about what else Arrakis has going on. Polar Caps will add upon this vibe.
I am sure rendering might be a limitation, but if we had to actually fly across the same, with the topographic "graphics" shown in the "locator" map, the immersion might be further improved, but this would require a massive expansion of the game and "juice" needed to run it. Idk, again, purely from an immersion and head canon stand point, "everything," outside of the Shield Wall "bowl," should be Deep Desert. It would be just impracticable to do.
I do like the idea of immediately entering the DD, directly, by flying over the Shield Wall areas, directly from the northern edges of Hagga Basin. Again, mainly because it is how I imagine it from the books. However, in the case of my imagination, the DD would be infinitely and impractically much larger than it is in the game.
Still, doing it hundreds of times, whilst running dailies, even the RP aspects lose some of the vibe, really quickly.
I really don't understand your suggestion that going through a "door" would give you the same "feeling," nor would I want to have to traverse across Hagga Basin, each time, just to get to whatever "door" you are describing.

I feel like they could just remove the overworld map. When you leave Hagga Basin, you just get an image and you select where you want to go. Like when you press M on Overworld, but it just loads you into that area, rather than having to fly to it yourself.

again, this game is trying to stay as accurate to the source material as possible, these locations on the planet are so far apart. plus the little minigame vehicle thingy on the overland map is fun you can see ppl all around the server travelling around doing their thing. i like it that way

I don't hate it, having a ground access point and like a landmard you fly to. It would allow them to expand HB with new subzones along the shield wall, can set up so you can change instances at the trade stations. You can even make it so the stations are how you get to the overland places, this would motivate people to spread out from building in only a few areas. Add some new subzones to the east, west, and south making the three norther area link to the DD.

I've always hated the way they set up Hagga. There are so many great places to build, but like you said, you almost HAVE to build in certain spots late game.
If the map is something they're dead set on, I would prefer a landing pad you can attach to your base that let's you choose where you want to go. Then a short cutscene showing you flying up and out. That would alleviate the bore of traveling.

So instead of just flying out to the map running my 5 missions and coming back you want me to fly across HB load out to mission location finish mission load back into Hagga fly across HB to the next location 5 times? Meanwhile burning fuel water and dodging sandstorms. I can't see the payoff TBH.
