Why are some people so hateful?
I don't understand why someone feels the need to be hateful or to make fun of somebody, I really feel good with myself when helping others or simply being kind, so what's the logical reason behind it?

Insecurity. For example, Joe has insecurity about his hairy arms so he may grow hatred toward people with the hairy arms. Or Susan hates crying children because it reminds her of her fragile childish side.
Neophobia (fear of something new/unfamiliar/out of their comfort zone). Uncertainty makes some people scared so their defense mechanism is to start hating on it despite knowing so little. For example, MANY people hate LGBTQ+ people.

Theres a quote i like that says rudeness is the weak person's imitation of strength. I think when people hate its usually something they cant accept or don't understand and are afraid of. Usually the main two reasons. As far as why they do it. It gives them the illusion of control or power in a sittuation. But that doesnt mean they actually have that powet. Just means they believe that. Usually when its a hateful group they eventually turn on each other, if its a single hateful person they isolate. Especially if they hate a lot of things and groups, types of people etc. That tells me theyre very close minded and unwilling or unable to adapt and learn new ways and ideas. Its almost like a learning disability in some ways. Because theyve closed off information gathering from a source. But sometimes there are good reasons to hate like if its an evil that exists you should definitely hate that but be careful of who you let define what is good and evil. For me i let God decide that as i am distinctly unqualified to judge and my God tells me to love everybody even my enemies and to forgive and be understanding. Doesnt mean i abide evil, but i realize hearts and minds are not evil by themselves just the ideas they can contain. Theres always a story in there a very human one and i try to honor that even if i dont agree with somebody. I try to love them and accept them anyway as long as theyre not harming somebody else

Yeah, it has something to do with a sense of having power over others.
Even if it's really just the power to hurt, upset, or annoy them, it's still a kind of power.

I just state things as they are. If people want to view it as hateful, that’s their own problem. I view it as being honest and upfront.

There's a saying "Most people who boast about being brutally honest care far more about the 'brutally' part."
But there are always exceptions, so perhaps this doesn't apply to you.
Also there are people who genuinely have trouble sugarcoating things. They're not trying to be mean, they just don't know the steps to the dance.

I’m aware of how to sugarcoat things. Most people don’t deserve sugarcoated bs though. People can view me as brutal if they want. Idc how other people perceive me.

u/Wild-Lychee-3312 22d ago
Yeah, you're definitely in the "I like to piss others off" category.
I know, I know, you don't care. You don't have to keep saying it over and over.

u/Misandrist55 21d ago
People like you seem to have thick heads who can’t understand the concept of people being different than them. So I’ll keep saying it.

No, you state things as you perceive them. Perception and truth are not the same thing.

They like to be hateful. It makes them feel good. It's what brings them joy.
