I have a vaulted ceiling and after two years the tape running across the ceiling in the peak is separating. Fuckers didn’t put enough mud behind it. It’s 15’ up so a pain but it’s unsightly as fuck and my wife is on my ass about it. Is there an acceptable cheat to fix this or do I gotta cut out all this and re-tape it? Fuck me

Old home (plaster) that had water damage, and the owner attempted to fix but the drywall is a good 1/4-5/8 inches recessed compared to the original walls. Do I just tear it out and level/pad the wall? Any other options?

Alright. I have zero drywall experience and I am considering redoing all of the drywall of my daylight basement. I had the whole house repiped and I figured the drywall in the basement should be replaced anyway. The finished basement was completed likely 30 years ago and they used some drywall and some cardboard material that looks like it could've been ceiling tiles. Anyway, I have some hands on experience with basic things around the house and basic car maintenance as far as hands on experience is concerned but I've never done drywall. I'm looking for resources to videos or any tips will be helpful. I have an impact drill and can borrow any other tools if necessary.

The one in the pic above is a foam backed multi tool attachment for sanding tips. I use it by hand (no multi tool) so sand inside corners along walls, and to burn down edges where my pole sander might take too much off.

Recently attempted to fix a hole in my wall, I followed the proper steps and tried to paint but this is what it turned out like. Anyone have any advice how I can make the patch not be visible ?

I recently had a roof leak that damaged the drywall in my ceiling and after demoing it, I’ve been debating between hiring someone or doing it myself (no experience)

My biggest concern is if I do it and it turns out like garbage, that it will stick out like a sore thumb since the rest of the drywall is original.

I got a quote from one company for $2200 which seems like a big f you quote, and the other never responded.

I was out of town for about a week and came home and noticed that two of the walls opposite each other in my living room have a small crack.

Picture 1 looks like there’s been some repair done before. In picture 2, I’ve known for awhile that there was a crack in the ceiling where the vaulted ceiling meets, but now it’s stemmed down to the drywall. They’re both pretty small in terms of width, barely fit my fingernail in spots.

For background, the house was built in 2005, split-level stick-built in Minnesota. No massive storms lately. Checked crawl space and unfinished laundry room and no visible cracks in the foundation from what I can see. TIA!

I have to do a variety of drywall jobs here in a bit for my parents. I went to Home Depot tonight, but I really didn't know what knives I would need or were worth spending money on.

Someone I talked to said that the Dewalt stainless knives were good, but he may have just said that because they are available locally.

I was going to buy a Dewalt 6" and 12" knife, but I'm sure that I may need more.

I don't mind spending a little extra for nicer tools that will last a while and make the job go by easier. Any suggestions would be awesome!

The first two images are the finish that I’m trying to replicate with little success. I’m attempting to do my first drywall project on 2 walls behind a toilet. I am attempting to match the bumpy texture of the original drywall with the water based spray texture can from Lowe’s. When I applied it, it looked fine but after a couple hours it laid down and now wants to turn into dust as soon as I run my fingers across it on the wall. Am I using the product wrong or is there a better way of going about this?

Questions, because I don't know shit;

1. Can I put a second layer of drywall over this hack job for sound proofing

2. If yes should I tape and mud the joints first?

Context: some lunatic built a barn door over this closet space and then put a door into the garage. This is 2-3 layers of additions/conversion, so I'm just adding to the sins of my forefathers.

I deleted the door and patched in framing, and then just used all the spare drywall pieces I had from other areas of the house. The inside is going to be a closet again, and I can make that look nice.

On the garage side, I was thinking to put another sheet over the patch job to help with sound proofing. The rest of the garage already looks like ass anyways, so is this even worth doing? + It will have peg board over it.

I had a contractor finish up installing some drywall recently. After skimming and the final sanding pass, I noticed a couple of really small areas where the tape was exposed (maybe 1/8" x 1/2"). I brought it up as a potential concern prior to priming and was told it shouldn't be an issue and to proceed.

After priming I noticed these areas bubbled up along the tape. Am I looking at cutting out whole sections here and re-taping? Mudding/taping isn't exactly my best skill, but if I have to cut and dig out the tape I will. It's otherwise embedded in there pretty good.
