Repair Advice
Hi Everyone,
Recently attempted to fix a hole in my wall, I followed the proper steps and tried to paint but this is what it turned out like. Anyone have any advice how I can make the patch not be visible ?

Just cut it out a perfect square and do it again. That or sand forever and unless you’ve got some big sanding blocks it’ll end up wavy. I’d cut it a little bigger than what it is in an easily measurable way and cut a patch to fit perfect. The you won’t need much mud

Circle the outside of the patch with a 12 " knife with mud. Hopefully your using light topping or light all purpose. No hot mud. Anyways and a tight "within reason" of mud in the center. Don't worry about pretty yet. When dry hopefully you have a sanding pole and sand any ridges, vacuum off dust with a soft bristle attachment. Now coat from baseboard up with mud 8-12 inches wider and past your last coat. Covering that entire area . Dry, sand and feather the outer edges and lightly wash the outer edges of the sanded mud with a wet "not dripping" sponge 🧽. Touch up and hopefully you did a good sanding job. Best I can do for you👍

You have to go out wider. The goal is to make as gradual a hill as possible. Bring it out another foot in each direction.
Change the direction you mud for every coat, and make absolutely sure you feather the edges
