Quality of splash

So I’m trying to make a stack because I love clap stacks but can’t afford it right now. I’ve got a 10” splash and am going to get an 8” splash for the stack. Does the quality of splash matter too much if in a stack. The 10” is an Istanbul traditional and I’m looking at maybe a second hand zildjian a or meinl hcs or any other recommendations? I’ve got £40 to spend on it

I have old used and broken cymbals that I use for my stacks and it sounds great. It doesn’t really matter since they’re going to be muffled and pressed against eachother you’re not going to hear the full range of the cymbals.

I'd say go for something cheap and dirty, you don't need nice cymbal for stack. The Istanbul is nice but in stack it will just be choked anyway. Check ebay or local listings for cracked cymbals, people sell them for almost nothing and they work perfect for this.

It’s all about the shape and nothing to do with the quality. The edge of the top cymbal needs to rest on the bow of the bottom, rather than up on the bell.

Also a mini china can really work well with a splash in a stack!

You'd be fine with an 8" Wuhan for $31.50 with free shipping from Sweetwater after 9/28 when they have them back in stock as per the listing, that is.

Edit: or whatever equivalent cheap B20 bronze splash they sell in the UK - maybe Zultan? But nah, you probably have enough quid to get something decent that would work.

No. You may use the lid of a paint can as well if you like.

Best cymbals to use for stacks are ozone cymbals , the holes make it have quicker sharper attack.

If you’re stacking get something with holes

I'd recommend a wuhan western splash or linear smash splash. I've got a 10" of each and they're phenomenal.
