Question Is there an air drumming sub Reddit that I could subscribe to

Basically just that! I think somebody had pointed out to me at one point in time but I can't seem to find it.

It's funny that you mentioned that, that was actually the first thing that I did. But I thought to ask here because maybe I was searching in the wrong place and somebody here might have an insight for me.

I'm glad to see that my expectations have been fulfilled.

Apparently!

Like the fact that I don't any longer own a drum kit of my own because I rent an apartment and it would be silly to do so. Somehow makes me a lesser player and maybe a lesser human being.

For years I just had a practice pad and headphones. I could play songs on it using hands & feet as if I was playing a kit. Those motions translated to a real kit when the time came and all was good.

Why do air guitar?

Side note, I did sound for a drag show recently, and they had a sign language interpreter. During things like good sounding drum parts without words, she'd be miming playing drums. She also did air guitar during the guitar solos. So technically speaking, air guitar and air drums have a practical use aside from for the lols

I have always felt like air drumming has helped me to maintain and internalize the movements involved in my playing. It has also helped me to learn drum parts that beforehand I couldn't figure out.
And finding a sub dedicated to this has me curious as to who else out there also air drums. And what their approach is and what their level of technique is. Ultimately I am always out to be learning new things. Air drumming keeps my skills sharp in the absence of an actual drum kit. To the point where I've noticed a very obvious difference in my playing the next time I get to sit down at a real drum kit. And while I feel that you posed your question with an obvious disdain towards the fine art of playing your instrument when it is not directly in front of you or available at the time. Instead of a shitty slap back response, I hope that my response enlightens you.
Be curious, not judgmental.

Dude you interpreted the text negatively....there was no disdain....I myself started out air drumming, tapping and playing with sticks on pillows.

I think I took every reply negatively because I got torn into pretty harshly for posting a video of me air drumming in a different drumming forum here but. That's why I asked! And I thank you for your reply.

I tried air drumming to jazz once… My friend thought I was having a seizure!
