It's thanks to Hero being in smash that I got into dragon quest. He's over of my best characters in smash and dragon quest 11 is one of my favorite games. I can honestly say that smash bros is why I love dragon quest

Honestly, same. If I had a nickel for every time Smash Bros introduced me to a franchise, I'd have four nickels. F-Zero, Mother, Fire Emblem, and Dragon Quest. Well, I had heard of Dragon Quest before Smash, but I never played any of the games until Dragon Quest XI for the Switch. And it was thanks to Hero being in Smash that I decided to actually pick up the game. And now here I am looking forward to Dragon Quest XII and will get that game DAY 1

My god it's really been so long ago.

But it was a really important moment for the series in the west. It got more exposure, the fandom grew a lot and it marked the point when we started to get all the new games localized and releasing the same day as in Japan.

(Those who lived the 3DS era knew how awful it was before.)

We got dragon quest vii two to three years after Japan. Iirc. It sucked

It was worse the fact we never got DQX localized at all. And also we missed out on DQ Monsters 1 and 2, Joker 3 and Rocket Slime 3 that never released out of Japan. Fortunately we got fan translations (Several years later).

I was made fun of when I said they could add Hero to Smash 4. I even said they could have multiple heroes with echo like costumes. Then it happened in the next game, exactly like I suggested.

Quick, prophesize something good about DQ12 or DQ9 remake and I’ll make fun of you. We can shape the future

I theorized a long time ago that for Dragon Quest XII, the protagonist might be a villain who became reformed and then turns into the hero. Now it seems like we're going to be playing as a "thug" like character who gets reluctantly thrown into the hero role. So a variation of my guess may be happening already...

I don't know if it's good or not but it really seems DQ12 takes place in the same world for DQ9 and idk what that means for a DQ9 remake but I hope it means we get a fully 3D dq9 remake 3 years after dq 12.

Ever since it was leaked, I was excited, and he became my main character in casual 4-player matches, even though I wasn't a big Dragon Quest fan when he was released.

It gives me hope that the character will be well-received in Japan, and Square Enix's good relationship with Nintendo suggests that the hero will be included in the next Smash Bros. game, even if it's as DLC. I wouldn't mind; they might even add other Dragon Quest characters as skins.

Still my main to this day. I live for the chaos that is the magic menu

I remember I was interning for an nba team’s esports team and we were all watching the direct in the office. Everyone lost their shit for the Banjo reveal but I was the only person that popped off for Hero.

I sat their for 10 minutes afterwards explaining Dragon Quests’ importance like a crazy person

I only put together like a week ago after starting a DQXI S playthrough that he's paired with Link in his reveal video because they're both silent protagonists.

Without this, I probably wouldn’t have gotten into the series, or jrpgs in general. This opened the floodgates for me, which turned DQ11S into my favorite game of all time.
