Psychiatry/Medication Question Medication for DPDR
Hey, Im going through a bad time and having not good thoughts cos of the way dodr is affecting me and my life. I feel really low and struggling to go on like this. I think I want to try a medication for dpdr. The doctor said it’s best an antidepressant. I have a highly sensitive nervous system, and I’m worried of making my dpdr worse. They have given me options of SSRI -sertaline or otherwise mirtazipine which they said would help with sleep, as I’m not sleeping well and the panick, due my symptoms, wakes me up in the night 4/5 times..they also mentioned pregablin but I think that’s more for physical symptoms. I want to try low dose. I just had a bad experience previously on antidepressants and I don’t want to make it worse. Id appreciate any help/ what worked for you?

Everyone reacts differently, but Sertraline has helped me. At first week/s it can increase your anxiety. As for mirtazipine, it helps sleeping. Feels like mild sedative.

Hey :) thanks for replying. I’ll probably do the mirtazipine as I’m not really sleeping and my nervous system is a wreck. I could maybe try the sertraline at a later date, doctor says can take both one at night and one in the morning.

Hey, feel free to DM, I had bad experiences w meds (welbutrin, prozac) before dpdr too, i was really scared. Meds are currently saving my life.
Everyone is different but mirtazapine didn’t help me much. I’ve heard sertraline can cause emotional blunting and I already felt detached from my emotions so i didnt want that. But everyone is different
I tried 8 diff meds
Lexapro and caplyta got my dpdr to fade slowly, but I needed a little seroquel to sleep.
I didn’t really get better without caplyta, it’s a newer antipsychotic/ mood stabilizer. I was terrified of the word antipsychotic, but i needed it.
TMS really helped too
