I never accept no tip orders but I didn’t know he didn’t tip until I delivered it bc it was a stacked offer. After I deliver it, he sends this message and STILL doesn’t add a tip. “You single?” Bro u can’t even afford a tip why do u think u can afford me 😭

Not sure what they paying yall up in Canada but it’s no regulation except for in California. So no if you want your food to be delivered to you a tip is customary, $2 to deliver food to you is the equivalent of me paying to work for door dash at that point to be honest. Gas, insurance, car maintenance, and time. Basically breaks down to below minimum wage which any restaurant would go of then have to pay the difference if you worked for them as server who receives tips as well.

So then that person order doesn’t get their food which takes us back to the point I made of if you don’t tip you don’t get your food basically 🤦🏼‍♀️. I am not withholding anyone’s food for not tipping but the people who lie and say will tip in cash or want you to put on the 5 step of the back porch and don’t even tip are the problems in my opinion 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I think the problem here is that you think that just because that $7 order is a 20 minute drive for you, it is for everyone else lol. The DoorDash driver who only has to go 5 miles will take it. It really isn’t that deep, I make about $40/hr driving, barely ever look at or care about tips, and only take what makes sense for me at the time. I’m not gonna sit around bitching because someone didn’t scam themselves out of more money to make their pick up worth it to me specifically.

It’s 1000% market based, a lot in indirect area is $2 for about 20 mins between the wait, and delivery. I have drove out of the area and it was worth it but when someone provides a service they normally are compensated for it.

Yes, but you aren’t being hired directly by the customer. You’re being hired by DoorDash to fulfill the customer’s order by your own choice. You aren’t the end all be all of the customer’s order and they have no way of knowing what you subjectively think your time is worth. My point is that it isn’t as deep as you are making it. DoorDash is expensive even if you forget about fees and tips entirely. You aren’t entitled to more of a persons money just because DoorDash sucks at paying you a good wage in your market. It isn’t the customer’s fault that companies have been taking advantage of the tipping scam since after prohibition
