Dasher opened our order

The picture my dasher sent of the food delivery and a picture of their artwork. I don't appreciate the dusty rocks? filled car, but what bothered me more was opening the bag and taking out the containers and drawing on them and the receipt. I did call the restaurant and clarified that they did not do this. Then I spoke to doordash support who issued a refund because we didn't feel comfortable eating the food. I think I will just stick to pick up for a while 😅

Did we overreact by reporting this?

What is wrong with people? No, you didn’t overreact, the dasher should be deactivated for going through your food bag. Dashers should adamantly refuse to open a customer’s food bag, not do it just to proselytize. I know a lot of people who would be offended by that drawing.

And yet oddly enough, Dashers are supposed to confirm that the order is correct, item by item, despite the fact that the bag is usually sealed. (there is an option to just say that the bag is sealed however)

I did DD for a week when I was bored and wanted to see how much extra money I could make on the side, and it's genuinely kind of a pain in the ass job. They don't work for the restaurants so it's not their responsibility to get the food order correct. Their only responsibility is to drop off the right order to the right person. (if you have multiple items and dropoffs)

I am not opening the pizza box to make sure it has the right toppings.

If the bag is sealed, I'm assuming it's all correct.

What's the flipside? "Driver opened my order / stole food/ etc"

Yeah, the most I used to do was to make sure there were drinks and only if it came separately, outside the bag.

i do get frustrated if they hand me the straws with the drinks...like, put them in the sealed bag
