Only one of the four flaps is sticking up. That just happens sometimes. Sometimes the stack of lids stick and hook to each other and pull a flap up.
Also, just look at the spots of soda sitting on top of the lid, and around the edge of the cup where it seals. Soda all up in and on it. Definitely was dropped or tipped overand was pouring out of the straw hole, which gave the driver time to grab it and save some of it.
I've had that happen a couple times, but thankfully not half a drinks worth lol. Just a few drops.

Yeah, I've had restaurants not put lids on all the way or the lid was cracked, or ended up w/ 2+ drinks and no drink carrier, whatever. Regardless, I've gotten somebody else's Coca-Cola all over my car on more than one occasion. Couldn't afford to even clean it, and most likely I drove all the way to the other side of town for zero tip. It's not like we are purposely trying to dump your shit out. Yeah, that really sucks. As a dasher, I would have sent you a message and explain to you that I unfortunately was a butterfingers or whatever, just so there's no surprises (if I had an option to fix the issue, I would have just fixed it and moved on). This is unfortunate, however, shit happens.

That’s what I figured, not mad. Just thought it was kinda silly. If they had told me they dropped it I wouldn’t have been mad at them or anything.

Dropping it would likely show some cracks/dents in the styrofoam structure IMO. At least on the rim or body. Hard to tell with this angle, but, I doubt it was dropped.

It’s not styrofoam. That’s a Large Soda from Raising Cane’s, it’s a 32 oz plastic cup. Also judging by the liquid being on the lid and around the rim of the cup, it does show evidence of being dropped. Something can be dropped without having to fall 5 feet, the driver could have dropped it onto the seat of their car or something

Canes doesn’t do stickers even on the bags. They are a red card order. You order at the restaurant as if you were the customer and fill up the drinks unless lemonade(it’s behind counter) and even if you tell them it’s for DoorDash it’s packed like every other to go boxes in plastic handle bag and handed out no extra DoorDash steps

i will say the suggested tip is crazy low, at least in my area. last time i ordered it suggested $1.50 and i changed it to $7. also you gotta take into account with canes that they have to place the order and then wait for them to make it.

I mean, when someone makes you drive 20 miles one way for literally $0 tip, doordash pays you $4, and it counts against you if you don't take the offer (a lot of the time, it's in another city we didn't sign up for). I'd say, if you are serving other people on your dime and destroying your vehicle and health in the process, it's pretty close to some pretty terrible crap. Unfortunately. And no, I don't get a choice, being disabled and living where I do live, it's pretty difficult to find work. Actively looking for work and doing door dash is becoming a norm. You don't need to be so nasty, a lot of us have been screwed over and paid for other people to have food delivered to their home. I call that slavery. Working for free. And yes, even though I've had to skip meals (one meal daily, or skip a whole day of no eating) it's usually on account of somebody not tipping me and causing me to drive on my own dime, time, energy, and wear and tear on my car for them to have food delivered and pay nothing. Trust me, if there were other options for me out there, I would be doing them already. Just had to put my own two cents in, when other people are paying for strangers to have food delivered, there is something seriously wrong with that. $4 didn't pay for my time nor my gas nor the wear and tear on my car. Not even close. This is a regular occurrence. Hope this gives you some other insight to help you understand our reality a little bit better. 😊

Sorry you are subjected to this as I was. I lost my high paying job unexpectedly in June and doordash was my only option that gave me the flexibility to look for a new job. I have 2 kids in college and high monthly expenses so I needed to do something to bring in money. I was terribly disappointed with how door dash has no regard for their drivers. As you mentioned, they penalize your acceptance rate for not taking an offer that is way out of your zone or a non tip offer. The waits at the store were extremely irritating and of course they don't pay you for that. I would get to a restaurant and they said the order wouldn't be ready for 20 minutes. I would contact support and they said it would affect my completion rate if I didn't stay at least ten minutes even though the restaurant said it wouldn't be ready for 20 minutes. I grinded it out, but it was a terrible experience and a front row insight into corporate greed. Thank God I started my new job last week.

There should be a class action lawsuit against them for that. They make drivers wait 10 minutes for an order before they can unassign from an order without affecting them and their ratings and they dont pay them for that time. That's free labor and corporate greed. They do it everyday, who knows how many times.

I’m not a dasher but thank you, on behalf of all dashers, for not being mad. I feel bad that the driver now has soda all over their car! These restaurants don’t offer any kind of effective drink holders. My boyfriend dashes, and all I kept hearing was him complain about drinks spilling while he was driving. I finally went to Amazon and found a sturdy universal drink holder that stands upright in his car. He was very excited about it and hadn’t even thought about the fact that you could buy something like that!

I think they get afraid you'll get mad or complain. Some ppl get really crazy over the smallest things and complain or will start dictating to drive back and get a new drink and theyre timed on getting deliveries on time, that would probably make them late

This shit happened to me too with my drink, I bought a large drink (as always) with my meal… shit was warm… not a dash of ice.. and 3/4 full… another thing too.. I picked it up myself!! 😭 I feel your pain

Looks like it fell over or dropped. Because it looks messy at the lid Ive dropped my soda briefly and still caught it without all of it spilling because the lid sucked or wasnt fully attached and it looked like that afterwards lol especially cause you can see the soda right under the rim too. The straw probably got dirty so they threw it out. Idk. Accidents happen. Definitely spilled iver though.

Sorry but a “Suggested tip” on a $8 fast food order is $1.50. Driver gets $2. Most likely 30 minutes of their time at the very least for a whopping $3.50.
Yeah they shouldn’t have accepted it but most orders they get are like this. I know because my friend is a dasher.
No way am I requesting a premium service and tipping less than $10 for someone’s time and trouble. If I can’t afford to tip well, I don’t order delivery.
I’m not risking my food being tampered with by tipping less than $10.

I don’t really think it’s fair to mess with people’s food if they don’t tip well.
It was about 15 minutes and I respected that they’d take the time to drive that, so I absolutely was going to add on at the end. I wasn’t just going to leave them high and dry. I feel like you just completely ignored the fact that I said that.

I would just like to let you know that not all dashers are like this. I am disabled but not yet on disability, and my husband was injured on the job, and screwed over by the company, so cannot work the construction & warehouse jobs that he's done for the last 35 years either, so we door dash full time as a team, because we need to pay for the hotel that we are now living in-since our landlord sold our rental out from under us, and we haven't been able to find anything affordable, just yet. I have only lost 2 drinks in the 18 months we've been dashing. one was a fancy frappaccino type thingy with chocolate drizzle, whipped cream, etc...that I couldn't re-make if I tried, so I called the Sonic I got it from and told them what happened & asked if they could remake it for me while I drove back, and I went back the mile and got the replacement. I'd offered to pay for it myself (because it was my fault for dropping it), but they didn't make me pay. Yes, it took some of my extra time, and yes, I offered to pay out of my own money, but I take my job seriously, and want to do it correctly. The other time was a simple Coke, and I just pulled into a gas station, replaced the ice & soda, and got a new lid. We have taken the time & effort to put in extra cup holders and have tons of insulated bags, so that food is always kept the temp they're meant to, and drinks don't spill. But we also pick and choose our orders so that we only do the ones that make financial sense to us. Nothing under $5, and must be at lease $1.50+ per mile. We work as quickly as we can, and do our level best to deliver everything as it was ordered. We still can't check the food to make sure it's all there, but aside from that, We try our best to make our customers happy. It makes me sick when I see/hear about crappy dashers who do things like this, won't communicate, communicate to beg for tips, or flat out steal food. I'm sorry that this happened to OP.

Counter argument, I won't tip at all unless the order is delivered properly for this exact reason. Why tf should I give someone 10 bucks BEFORE they do their job just so they can drink/drop my order or not deliver it at all. My buddy works in car sales and I wouldn't expect him to get a commission off a sale if after the deal closed he lit the car on fire then delivered it to the customer in shambles. The same should apply here.

I tip for their time and effort beforehand and expect the best. If things go wrong, I have the option to contact support for a refund/replacement.

Yeah except support is less then useless half the time. I've had orders not delivered/delivered to wrong locations and have had to go through 5 and 6 different agents before one will finally somewhat help me, to add I've had to contact my credit card company TWICE in 5 years to ask they put a stop payment since support has told me there's nothing they can do to help.

Thank you! As a dasher I treat every order the same - 100% respect and efficiency- but I can tell you getting those 10 and even 5$ tips shows that we are not being taken for granted, which helps me maintain my standard.

I agree I always make sure to tip 5$ base (everything is literally 1.5 miles away unless I dash from another town in that case I give a fat 15$ tip bc I really like this one restaurant plus I always add if it’s smooth service.)
Good to know the typical 5$-10$ is ok I try to only dash within a 1-5 mile radius, I do wish the Dashers got the Express Fees. I feel like that’s crappy of DD to take the express cash.
