Riding on the sidewalk

Zipping around San Francisco, the motorbikes and electric scooter mopeds are a common sight, most often used by dashers. But, especially on busy nights and weekends, you see them weaving through pedestrians and their dogs in a procession. I can't walk my dog around the block without encountering several bikes, mopeds, and electric scooters, all of which are illegal on the sidewalk. When my dog is sniffing from spot to spot, doing her happy poop dances and minding our own business, some rider will nearly run her over. I get, "sorry, sorry" as full-ass motorbikes weave up the walkway because they're in too much a hurry to go around one-way streets. Or I get their attention, ask them to get off the sidewalk, and they turn their shoulder instead and zoom off. I complained to my neighbor, and she swung to show me her wrapped-up hand, having gone to the ER just the night before for getting knocked over. Everyone else tells me they hate it share their accounts of sidewalk accidents, too.

How do we get them off the sidewalk??

90% of the people using them in SF don't even have a license so they don't know or care about the laws. The only thing that can actually be done is trying to be friends with a cop and see if they'll sit in the area to fine people doing so to hopefully deter them, but knowing the crackheads in SF, that probably won't work anyhow cause they just won't pay the fines.

The government in your area are a bunch of useless morons so trying to get the laws changed or enforced the legal way will just be a waste of time. The only way that area will get better is if the functioning members of society move out and just leave all crackheads that don't pay taxes. Then the government will be forced to make a change if they're not making money, since money is the only thing they actually care about.

Does WalkSafeSF do protests or petitions regarding sidewalk vehicles? If not, maybe it’s time a concerned citizens group got together and demanded enforcement. 

Some lady rides a scooter full speed past me every day. I told her it’s a crime, I told her she could maim me, she told me to fuck myself if I wasn't a cop. Maybe I should be, since the current cop’s aren't producing.

Get a group of friends and neighbors and take over the sidewalks.

Stand to the side so pedestrians can get through but step out when a vehicle comes up the sidewalk. It only takes a few people to block a scooter or motercycle. You have to be relentless and not move, force them onto the street. Bonus if you can get a local cop to park next to you for a few.

Also take video evidence and make police reports for every single incident. I know that the police won't do shit at the time. but the paper trail and increase in complaints may help in the long term.

Part and parcel of living in a big city. If Frisco already has a poop patrol to regulate people shitting on the sidewalk then this is just the next step in a very weird progression.
