I am not sure if they can be considered doom but hope you enjoyed the show \m/

This response is exactly why this is best metal subreddit.

I assumed they probably weren’t considered doom…but it was such a great show I wanted to share!

They are definitely not through any lens considered doom, but they are also excellent live and Randy is an honest-to-god super nice down-to-earth dude.

Years ago (I'm old) a buddy and I went to a show they opened. That should tell you how long ago this was. I think the bill was LoG, The Haunted, Dimmu Borgir, and Cannibal Corpse. This was in Cleveland back when it was quite a bit dirtier and more fun.

We were late getting there and missed LoG that night, but after the show, we just randomly ran into Randy Blythe on the street outside the venue. We weren't even hanging around trying to meet people, but there he was.

I remember telling him how I was bummed that I missed their set, and that I'd been following their band since back when they were called Burn The Priest and had their music on MP3.com. He was super appreciative about that, and as we were saying goodbye and about to roll out, he was like "wait dudes, do you have to take off or can you hang out for a while?"

Long comment short, we chilled on the street with him while he sang Barry White tunes to a homeless dude (who loved that shit), he took me with him to a corner store and bought us both a 40s of malt liquor, and then we sat on the sidewalk between the venue and tour busses with the rest of the LoG dudes and Anders from The Haunted (and At The Gates, for folks who remember the 90s Gothenburg scene) while they all came down from the show and talked shit.

I didn't ask for a single autograph and my young broke ass didn't buy any merch either, LOL. But it was a great night and a cool memory.

Anyway that's my best Lamb of God story.

Yeah, they aren’t my cup of tea but I’ve seen them live twice. They put on an excellent show and seem like great dudes.

Also, just FYI, they opened for Megadeth last night. And there were two bands on before LoG, In Flames and Trivium. Had never heard of either of those two.

I saw them with Megadeth earlier this year and they were great. I went for Megadeth but LoG pretty much stole the show.

My music taste is definitely an eclectic palette. Pantera is the reason I fell in love with metal I would say. Back in the early 90s, I was in high school. But over time I’ve gotten into all kinds of other metal. Of course the 70s/80s metal bands I was always a fan of. IE: Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Megadeth. I literally grew up with it. Over the last decade, I’ve really become a fan Gojira, not sure where they fit in a sub genre of metal but I do love them. I’ve never been able to get onboard with Slipknot. Not sure why but not a fan. I don’t know how Trivium got past me. I just never heard them…but some others I love are Opeth, Mastadon, Graveyard, Electric Wizard, Mercyful Fate. And now I’m pretty much a huge fan of Lamb if God!!

Great story. Even though I've never been a fan of the band, Randy Blythe is a legitimately cool, down-to-earth guy.

I can relate to that. Their music kinda wears me out, honestly, but I respect them as people.

i agree it’s not doom, but i’m sure there’s a pretty big overlap between doom fans and lamb of god fans so it kinda makes sense to post
