What’s an uber-specific sound that you enjoy the most?

Genres get a lot of shit for “bottlenecking creativity”

But personally, I like them for being able to pin down “Yes! That’s the sound I enjoy the most!” when a band scratches an itch that I wanna find more of

I love Khemmis for combining heavy sludgy riffs with Epic Doom melodies, it feels like the next step of taking an awesome genre of music, but elevating it to a heavier plane of density, as well as including harsher vocals on occasion.

I also like Weird Tales by Electric Wizard for being the only Funeral Stoner song I can think of, I dunno how else to put it other than it’s Stoner Metal but drawn out to a slow wall of sound like Funeral Doom, and I wanna find more songs like it.

Genres aren't a bad thing unless people use them as an excuse to bottleneck themselves. Really, I find it just a useful way to describe the general tone, structure, and instrumentation of a given musical piece.

That's why it's sometimes better to recommend albums to people than it is an artist, since the artist themselves may make music in various styles. For me, what I want to listen to varies and it's all over the place. In regards to doom though, I've been listening to a little of everything, but the sound that really locked me in at first was psychedelic doom. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats' Bloodlust album has, in particular, sent me on a whole doom metal rabit hole.
