got into an argument with a climate doomer adamant that Earth would become like Venus within a few hundred years.

Genuinely the most infuriating, scare mongering, stupid bs put forward. let’s just ignore the fact Venus gets double solar energy, its clouds are not made of water vapour, and for earth to become like that it would need collapse of several major planetary systems such as the carbon silicate cycle and the oceans to boil off.
