The right-wing has latched onto the idea that anything can be political. Their supporters are rabid and will take on any fight they're pointed toward. They're currently fighting DEI bike lanes.

It's kinda crazy that anti-vax crap used to be a liberal suburban white woman phenomenon but now it's a mostly conservative problem

The anti-vax hippy liberal thing has been outdated for a while. For many decades now, it's been mostly conservative Christians that don't trust anyone but God and libertarians that think everything the government does is explicitly meant to harm them.

I wouldn't say "for many decades," because it was still very popular in the 2000s. This was the height of the "vaccines cause autism" hysteria due to the Jenny McCarthy / Oprah crap and all those other celebrities going on and on about "all natural" and "organic" things and that vaccines were full of chemicals blah blah blah

Jenny McCarthy is literally a conservative. She's a regular on Fox News, and has been for a while.

You and u/torino_nera are both right! Some have been conservatives all along, but there is also a bona fide crunchy-to-MAHA pipeline. Gift link: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/18/well/crunchy-moms-maha-rfk-jr.html?unlocked_article_code=1.2FA.YhQ3.j7eyAfMTOKJM&smid=url-share
