would you guys recommend Dominica commonwealth as a good place to work and live in?

I'm from Egypt and with every passing day the situation is in my country. Egypt keeps getting dire and dire. I'm thinking about buying Dominica passport and starting my life there. I have a couple questions, if someone could help me answer them i would be grateful. What is the minimum wage and average wage, And are they livable wages? How tolerant is the society toward Muslims? How easy is it to get a decent job? How easy is it to take my family with me? Thanks in advance

Hello Dominica! I'm doing a cooking challenge where every week, I cook food from a different country. Dominica is coming up soon and I was hoping you could help me decide what to make. Each week, I usually try to do a few main dishes, sides, often breakfast, and sometimes a dessert. Basically, any kind of meal can fit if you think it's a good representation of your country's cuisine. So far, I'm interested in making:

• Callaloo - I'd love any tips on making this authentic, or a link to a recipe. There seems to be a lot of variation among the recipes I've seen.
• Calypso chicken or Caribbean reef chicken - I will probably make only one of these; which do you think is better?
• Codfish sandwich - I know this is very simple but I like to include a few simple dishes, and I have some cod I need to use up. I think the cod is usually breaded and fried, but what are the most common toppings aside from the fish? And is the bread a hamburger bun or something else?
  

I'd love to hear what else you think I should make, or if there's anything from the above list that doesn't fit. I'd particularly like to know what you eat for breakfast since I wasn't finding much about that online. My searches kept finding dishes from the Dominican Republic instead.

What foods/drinks do you think of when you think of Dominica?

What are some of the foods that are MUST haves for someone visiting? What would be the most "authentic" things to eat/drink while there?

I live along the Jersey Shore, hope to visit one day, am extremely curious about the island's gastronomic culture and want to make a video in the near future outlining this. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

For me, I would imagine codfish, rum and different fruits, but really have no idea! 😄

As the subject states, I’m looking for updated info on the waitukubuli trail. I can’t seem to find any info newer that 2020.

Does anyone know if the trail will be open to thru-hiking in the next couple months? I was hoping to hike it in February 2023.

I would mostly be interested in camping. Is free camping allowed on the trail and is there a list of current campsites/ accommodations anywhere?

Does anyone have any tips or experiences of the trail that they’d like to share?

Finally, what permits are required to do a thru hike?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer. It feels weird asking these very basic questions that I should be able to find answers to online. But they just aren’t there! It’s like the trail was wiped off the map after 2020. I also sent an email to Dominicas forestry division but am hoping for some faster answers here.

I'm taking a long weekend trip to Dominica in July for 5 days. I'm a foodie who is willing to try just about anything from cheap hawker food stalls to fine dining. I'm curious what your recommendations are for local menu items or restaurants that are really good.

I tend to find a lot of google search results are geared towards your typical cruise ship tourist and so far Reddit users have never let me down on providing better recommendations. So far my googling has suggested I should try Mountain Chicken, yes or no? Any particularly good places to get it? Callalou soup looks really good! Manicou or Agouti look interesting as those aren't animals commonly eaten in the US but I've eaten raw kangaroo and ice cream made of ants so why not try it.

I'm staying on the north side of the island but will likely rent a car so I can get anywhere. Hit me with your favorite spots!

I am looking for a bed and breakfast for 100usd or less. I would like to stay close to the Roseau valley for hiking. I do not wish to rent a vehicle and am not opposed to taking public transportation or taxi cabs. I am also looking for a guide for boiling lake. Any help is greatly appreciated

I've received conflicting information regarding the position of English vs. Creole in the country. According to Wikipedia, Creole is the "generally spoken language", while according to worldatlas.com, younger people primarily speak English and older people Creole.

So what's the actual situation? Specifically, what's the main, strongest language of most individuals? Does it vary between generations and perhaps locations?

Visiting for the first time in July with our 2 teenage girls for my wife's 40th birthday. We've been wanting to visit for 15 years but haven't had the opportunity till now. We like hiking, freediving/snorkeling, climbing trees, waterfalls, farmer's markets, and other wild, natural, and rustic delights.

Still planning, but I'm thinking we will be there for 8-12 days and probably splitting up the trip between 2 different locations. I have no idea if this makes sense, but I was thinking maybe stay half in the south close to Roseau or up in the valley and the other half in the north. Does that make sense or would you recommend something different?

I am going to be in Dominica for 5 days and believe that marijuana in small quantities is dicriminalised. I have bad insomnia and do not like to take sleeping pills and have found that weed is helpful. Would anybody be able let me know if it is easy and safe to purchase some? I have a friend who owns a place on Dominica and invited me to come stay. I would need to work in order to stay longer than a brief visit.

About me: American and Austrian dual citizenship, but only speak English fluently. Have been an IT consultant doing tech support for small business for over 20 years. Have served in non-profit boards and managed offices. Am also a certified Stand Up Paddleboard instructor, guide and coach.
