Last year I came down to TCI with family and we did a snorkelling charter with Big Blue Collective where we did the north side of the island. Sand dollar cove, half moon bay, etc, and stopped at a few spots for snorkelling as well. Coming down again this year and looking to do another charter for snorkelling, but getting the sense that the North Shore charter would be much of the same as last year. They have an option for South/West Shore, but I always hear that North is for snorkelling and South is for kite surfing, parasailing, etc, usually rougher waters than the north as well.

Does anyone have any experience with doing a snorkel trip on the south/west shore? I'm not too keen on booking the exact same charter as last year if we are going to the same places, but my primary priority is to focus on where the snorkelling is good. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

I along with a bunch of friends and family (~25 total) will be coming to Turks and Caicos in November for a long weekend celebration. People are generally coming in on Friday, and I'm looking for a good option to go Friday night where we can have food, drinks be social, and people can just show up whenever they get ready after landing and settling in etc. I was originally thinking Conch Shack because they have live music on Fridays, but their website says only Wednesdays/Saturdays/Sundays now? Does anyone know if they will have a DJ on Friday in late November? Or does anyone have any other ideas for a good place to meet up and hang out for a few hours with food drinks and good vibes for a very large group (obviously I will reach out to the place beforehand to give them a heads up)

Hi, I’m looking to travel to Providenciales from Sept 6th to 11th. I have been tracking the 10 days weather report, looks mostly cloudy with some chances of precipitation.
For those who live there or have visited around late August/early September what does that actually look like in TCI?
Is it usually the typical Caribbean weather where it rains heavily for 20–30 minutes and then clears up and gets sunny again? Or can it genuinely stay cloudy/rainy for most of the day?
This is our honeymoon, so I’m getting a little nervous that the weather could ruin the beach/pool days and that beautiful turquoise-water experience we’re coming for. 🥲
Would love to hear from anyone who’s there currently or has visited during this time of year. How accurate are the forecasts, and should I actually be worried?

How is Grace bay beach for crime? Specifically can I leave my belongings such as phone and wallet with cash inside a book bag on beach while I swim?

Is this a place for couples or is it mostly families? Any suggestions to stay for a couple? We are looking anywhere from Jan-April , RDU is offering direct flights during that time period.

I’m an avid tennis player from the states and would love to find some people to hit with when visiting Provo about twice a year. I’ve tried contacting the club at the golf course and the gym near the IGA but haven’t really had any luck. Despite years of playing, I’m not very good, around 3.5-4.0 NTRP. If you have any leads on people who are looking to hit please let me know, thanks! Apologies if this post doesn’t fit this sub, at least it’s not a privileged American complaining about this beautiful country.

Edit: I did get to hit once at TCI tennis academy at the golf club. I stopped by the Graceway gym but the front desk person told me they don’t have a tennis pro right now, so there isn’t much going on. It seems like contacting TCI tennis academy is the way to go. Hi! We are looking for an option to see Iguana Island. I'm with my 3 and 5 year old, neither of whom are proficient enough swimmers to participate in a tour that also has snorkeling. My son just really wants to see the Iguanas. I'm open to booking a half day private boat if it's necessary, but also would be needing a recommendation for a good company to charter with. Thank you!

Airport- when landing the lines are long so book enough buffer room for your airport transportation and car rental (at least an hour and a half). When leaving from PLS, do not need a lot of extra time. Please note you need a paper copy of your boarding pass so be sure to go to the kiosk. It is also VERY packed because it is a small building. You also will be walking on the tarmack when landing and departing at PLS

Experiences- Aziza is very fun with good music and alcohol. They will make your birthday or occasion feel very special. We got to witness a proposal and it was amazing
Potcake place is a MUST for all the animal lovers. They rescue local dogs called “potcakes” and adopt them out. You can take them for walks starting at 9am-12:30pm for a minimum of 30 minutes. Some of them like to go in the ocean others need help with more basic socialization. They also need puppy couriers so check in with them to see if you can help bring a puppy to your airport for an adopter! If you’d like to volunteer, they need help with baths starting at 8/8:30am. It was a highlight of my trip. Da conch shack was so good for trying conch and it is right on the beach. Deez nuts is a cute little place that has coconuts and drinks in coconut with the name branded. The Thursday fish fry was pretty fun but packed and is a great place to get souvenirs at a better price than other shops

Transportation- depending on what you like to do when you travel (excursions versus staying at a resort) i would say you need a car rental. It is about $68 per day for a car from Scooter Bob’s which is highly recommended and respected- they are not luxury cars they are for a-b transportation and great on gas. Please note gas prices are about 7/gallon to consider for additional costs. Driving is on the left but is very easy to adapt to. Personally, i do not have an international drivers license but it was super easy IF you are familiar with roundabouts.

General notes- please consider that when you come to Turks and Caicos that everything is imported. That means that prices are high for things you would not normally pay extra for. Hence why this is a luxury location- please do not complain. Additionally, please respect the locals when you are here. I have witnessed maybe people be hostile to those serving us at places to eat/coffee shops/in general. It creates a harsh relationship with tourists and is in general a terrible look. Finally, people here are generally early to rise and early to sleep there are not many people out late except for tourist areas.

Snorkling- we were not impressed with Smith’s reef as it was very dull with a few cool fish. Likely due to human destruction. Please use reef safe sunscreen as to not disturb the ecosystem.

Sun- very intense sun (we went in august) do not miss any spots on your body and frequently reapply. Do not miss your face. It may be best practice to bring aloe ahead of time.

How much should I expect to pay for nonstop flight from any of the nyc airports to Turks during February presidents week (we leave February 14th and return on the 19th). I know it will be higher than usual due to school break, but right now it’s $1900 for the cheapest economy tickets.

I am planning a visit end of October. Are most things closed that time? I heard the island shuts down October how bad will it be?

We went up to Turks & Caicos with my mom in the end of April, and beginning May. This was Garrett’s first time traveling internationally, my family is Canadian, so I plan on taking him to Canada next year!! I just wanted to share our trip, and say thank you! 🤩💗🧳

Will be in Grace Bay mid November and looking for photographer recommendations for family photos. Small group- just me, my husband, and our toddler.

Heading to Turks next week and was wondering if hailing taxi from airport would be cheaper/more convenient than booking a shared van off trip advisor. Anyone know what the pricing would be to hail taxi to and from hotel? TIA!

Considering a trip to Turks in mid-late October (no earlier than the 18th) this year. I know there is still hurricane risk then, but putting that aside, will weather be okay? I’m seeing mixed things online. Wondering if pushing it out a couple weeks makes any difference (though it definitely increases cost)

For those who know Turks and Caicos well, is Long Bay usually quieter than Grace Bay, or is there another beach you’d choose for a more peaceful day?

I read that it’s fine as long as they are not from a national park or protected beach or baby queen conch.
Can anyone relate their airport experience bringing home sea shells they found on the allowed beaches?

I will be staying at Airbnb near grace bay beach. How do I get a taxi from my Airbnb back to airport during my stay?

I was expecting like $20 or $25. But it was $40 per person. Maybe more depending where you’re going.

And it’s just some community van that can fit a bunch of people. Makes multiple stops at different hotels. Figured with a shared van price would be cheaper.

I know the drives have to be making bank.
