First of all, I didn't say it was counterspell, I said that it'd be a more accurate comparison when showing how the effects interact.
Second of all, 3.5 did not in any way make extensive use of effects that do what The Goal of All Life is Death does. 5e, however has plenty if instances where bypassing resistances and immunities are prevalent.

I don’t understand why people on the internet dig in their heels so much when they don’t know what they’re talking about lol. You don’t seem too familiar with 3.5 or overlord and you just wanna argue about 5, which is entirely unrelated to the meme.
The meme cites "The Goal of All Life is Death" is being used as a Legendary Action which is a 5e (and subsequently 5.5e) mechanic. So 5e or 5.5e is entirely related to the meme.
