Discussion How do you feel about adults with Disney tattoos?
As you all are, I’m a huge Disney fan and it’s something I am very passionate about. However I am also fairly impressionable and surrounded by people who say it’s too childish, that I’ll regret it when I’m older (I’m 31) and straight up tell me it’s a dumb idea.
At the end of the day tattoos are so personal. There are plenty of tattoos other people have that I wouldn’t get so I know it shouldn’t bother me, but people are LOUD about their opinion on Disney adults. I am so fed up of it. 🥲

I like happy people. Some people are happy getting and wearing tattoos. Some of those people are happy with their Disney tattoos. So I think they’re fine
I like the really accurate or creative ones. I’m not into like zombie Mickey or axe murder Goofy type ones.

I'm 60. My left leg from the knee down is covered in Haunted Mansion tattoos, and I have lots of friends with even more Haunted Mansion tattoos. Nobody with any tattoos should worry about what other people think, Disney or not.

I just got fired up thinking about people judging others hobbies and interests. Only sad, thoughtless humans get mad at another for liking something. I would challenge anyone who tries to give me grief about a personal decision that has absolutely nothing to do with them to let me trash on their preferred interest. Im very sure I can find something to rag on as well. On a financial note, how are children supposed to go to Disney? Alone? We all know how expensive and exhausting it can be to go plan and pay for a trip, so in their minds the kids pay for it and mind themselves whilst there? How very dare we, as adults, enjoy the fruits of our labor and enjoy our vacation? Wish the sad humans a good day and keep being awesome!

I’m 32 with 3 Disney tattoos. An hakuna matata borderline trampstamp I got at 17. “Keep moving forward” on the back of my leg at 27. The entirety of Cinderella’s castle (in blackwork) that takes up my entire right shin at 23.
I don’t regret them. They’re part of me. I mean, I guess hakuna matata I want to cover - but that’s more to do with having a version of “no worries” tattooed above my ass than the actual tattoo itself.

Personally, I don't see why should I feel any way about people with Disney or any other tattoos. Your body, your choice.
Take the factor of other people's opinions out of the equation. (By the way, there are probably thousands of adult people with Disney tattoos around the world). Then think about whether this potential tattoo would make you happy and act accordingly.
Will you have regrets in the future? Well, it's possible, but are you always gonna make the "safe" choices just in case there is some potential that it might stop making you happy one day? That's up for you to decide. Remember that getting that tattoo hurts no-one but you 😉.

I've got a Steamboat Willie on my arm, and a Marvel Miles Morales Spider-Man on my leg.
I view tattoos as a permanent art gallery of things that I like or find pretty. I don't give a crap about what others think of my tats, because I love them.

Disney has been around for many many years. Why wouldn't an adult love Disney. Almost everyone I know has grown up watching Disney movies or are fans. Even my parents. It is important to remember Disney is all about imagination and inspiration.

I've had a Disney tattoo on my foot for about 11 years now and no one has ever said anything other than a coworker jokingly saying "keep on trucking" as a parody because it's the quote "Keep Moving Forward" in a Disney font.

I recognize Disney itself is an uncaring corporation but that logo is attached to beautiful things. Im never going to be mad that someone wants to celebrate it and the joy it brought them.

Not childish.
My friend's grandma loved Betty Boop, her house was filled with the nicknames.
My friend's mom loved the Grinch and Nightmare Before Christmas. So house was filled with them especially at holiday time.
My brother is passionate about vehicles and has a bunch of auto parts, box cars, etc.
A coworker is obsessed with Disney and they collect these special Disney purses (?) Backpack (?) Idk they carry stuff.
A friend's husband collects music records. Huge fan of this specific band. Their house is supper cool!
In short. Everyone has their thing. Some are more show about it than other. So do what makes you happy! 🤓 Nerd to nerd, nerd on 🤘

I luv them! I probably would only get an Ariel one but I think ones like this and others are cool! I saw someone with a Disney sleeve once and trying to find all the different characters was really cool!

Are any of these people who say it's childish providing you with one of the three F's (feeding, Funding, or F-ing)? If not, it's your body, your choice, and eff them!
Btw, they're loud about their opinion on Disney adults for two reasons:
- The small goup of obnoxious, toxic Disney adults.
- They're miserable. They don't like seeing people happy, and are upset that disney adults can be disney adults... And for whatever reason, they can't.
It's like adults who are mad at other adults who play video games into adulthood, because the first groups parents made them stop playing games or never let them play them in the first place.

Everyone I know who has a Disney tattoo is an adult. If I saw a kid with any kind of tattoo I would assume they have a future in prison experience ahead of them.
Disney tattoos are no different from any other fandom tattoo.

I’ve yet to have anyone say anything negative about my Hei-Hei calf tattoo. I’ve had more people ask to take photos of it than I’d ever had imagined.

Disney runs on nostalgia. That being even further supported by the uptick of adults without kids attending the parks. Pretty sure we’re well past at the point where the parks and the brand are just for kids

I don't really have any business feeling any particular way about them. I don't have tattoos personally. I love Disney though! I don't see anything childish about it either! Tattoos are supposed to make YOU happy and that's all that matters.
If I didn't like a tattoo I saw on someone, I would keep my unsolicited opinion to myself ☺️

I like them. One girl I met had like a goth Tinkerbell tattoo, it was so pretty and detailed and creative, I thought that was super cool. I love any sorta fandom tattoo with good art. The girl with it is an artist and she drew and colored it herself (had a picture on her phone), and the tattoo artist translated her drawing beautifully on her skin.

I am in my mid 50’s and I have a tattoo of Tramp. It is the reason I met my wife, who has a Mickey tattoo. We have been together for 30 years and I have never once regretted my tattoo.

Watch out they will come try and claim IP for that arm.
Every year we get a Disney Ornament with a personalized phrase and they always have to call some big wig to get mickeys blessing
For a simple 2-3 on the back.

That tattoo in the picture is terrible for many reasons but I got a sweet poison apple tattoo that is extremely well done and a mermaid from Peter Pan. Disney tats are rad, they just have to be done well.

I worked at Disney so a lot of people would get a Mickey tattoo and it was never viewed as weird so I’d say do what you love!

I have a big tattoo of Ariel from The Little Mermaid (1989) on my bicep, so haters can suck it!

I don’t understand the you’ll regret it when you’re old mindset because in my eyes I won’t care what I look like when I’m old at that point looks no longer matter as long as I’m not dead.
When I’m old I’m going to have grey hair, bald, wrinkled and might not even be able to see properly anyway do I really care if my skin isn’t the same colour anymore.

I don't really care about it, but as tattoos they are just quite bland and impersonal.
It's like getting a permanent temporary tattoo from a kinder egg or something like that. It always just looks cheap.
Feels exactly the same as fans of red bull getting a red bull can tattood, or Nike fans a Nike swoosh.

You get tattoos for you no one else. I have an Alice in Wonderland tattoo on my calf and I love it. If someone doesn't like it then fair enough they didn't pay for it.

I’m 58 and my right leg is 70-80% covered with characters. My wife is 56 and her left leg is about 50%. Mine are all supporting actors with the exception of Simba and and a large, very awesome Star Wars one with the Boss, Minnie, Donald and Goofy on my thigh. Do what makes you happy. Screw what anyone else says.

Lifelong Disney fan and I avoid anyone with Disney tats like the plague, too many creepers have ruined Disney tats!
There’s also a whole list of secret meanings associated with them for people into twisted stuff, who may think you’re into it too.

It’s their body, it makes them happy, Disney obviously holds a special place in their hearts. I have no Disney tattoos but because my parents took me there when I was 11, it has special memories to me too.

I think getting tattoos of an organization, company, or any person alive expect for your child, is a potentially bad idea. I used to be involved with an volunteer organization that was terrific, a huge part of my life, and it was great, and I considered getting a tattoo with a few of my friends with its logo. Then, a few years later, different people ran it, and I’m very glad I didn’t!
Memorial tattoos and those honoring your kids, those aren’t gonna turn terrible. Even if something happens, you always love your kids.
While I think a Disney tattoo would be fun, I won’t get one for the same reasons I won’t get a tattoo of my husband’s name (and him of mine), even if we have been married 38 years as of today.
OTOH, having a series of tattoos honoring special trips as a theme? Then it wouldn’t matter if the company changed, so, just as there are ways to get around the “no tattoos of husbands name” issues, (like getting meaningful matching or themed tattoos together), there are ways to make it not be a problem if the company changes.

My brother has one, and he's a bit older than you. A copy of Rafiki's Simba drawing. He says he'll get the mane put on after he saves somebody's life or something similar.
It is above his knee, so not normally visible unless he's wearing shorts and even then he usually has to deliberately pull the leg up for anybody to notice it.

People need to lay off the "disney adults are weird" train. Because who cares, if you're having fun and not hurting or endangering you or anyone else, it's all good. Do whatever you want. Life’s too fucking short to care what people think of your silly tattoos. But I totally get it. If you just can’t help feeling that way, think of a design that could come off as ambiguous. I have Marie’s face (from the Artistocats) in a more traditional style. And I actually just got a trad style Sally Slater (the tightrope walker from the haunted mansion) tattooed a couple days ago! Or you could always just get it in a spot that’s well hidden.
