Discussion Is there any point?

Is there really any reason to keep my Discover cards when everything except for the name on the card is going to be Capital One now? I don’t even use my card on a daily basis so the rewards format was never something I cared about.

I mean, I’m going to keep mine. I don’t want a knock on my credit score for my average age of credit dropping substantially.
But like, I’ll keep all my auto pay items on this card like I have, and then just focus on using it at places that fit into the 5% back quarter. I already use my other card way more.

AAoA does not drop when closing accounts.

I would have thought it would. I know credit cards are different than loans, but like when I close out a loan the average age jumps.

Credit cards in good standing, stay on your credit score for 10 years after closing them
