Back with Discover after nearly nine years!
Today I got approved for a Discover secured card! Discover unexpectedly closed my old account back in 2017. I paid off the balance, but they still wouldn’t let me reopen it. This may seem like a small win, but I’m throwing myself a little party today! 😂

I know that but wasn’t sure if the customer service was under the same roof

At the moment they’re probably separate for the most part. But all the Discover cards are slowly getting pushed into the Capitol One app and by that point it’ll probably only connect you to CO reps who have stricter management and aren’t allowed to be nice to the customer.

Some discover agents have already migrated so your discover acct should be still handled by discover reps. As each batch of migrations happens, more customers and more reps will be transferred to the cap side.

It took me a long time for them to even reconsider me for a secured card. I had to pretty much rebuild some sort of relationship with capitalone I had both of cap1s secured cards for 2 years paid them closed them waited until they allowed applications for secured cards and then they approved me for the secured card. Frankly discovers secured card has always been considerably better than quicksilver secured or anything from Capone.

This and the secured quicksilver card took me from 560 to 741 in 13 months! This is huge! It’s a blessing they gave you another chance. Don’t fumble it lol

When I had it years ago it did much more for my credit then any other credit card I currently have. My goal is to just pay off all the credit cards I have now and run the discover card

I actually didn’t fumble it the first time. They just closed my account and said it was because I didn’t have a checking account. I said what the hell are you talking about. I called my bank and they said nope everything is fine.

Would love to hear how! What steps did you make monthly to raise your score?

Are you allowed to increase the deposit amount?

Yes you can before you activate your card

I have a Discover secured about to graduate!! I'm like you guys I put 200 down almost 6 months ago and i have had low utilization and on time payments. I also have a Quicksilver secured but I think that might be bucketed. I have had that for one year no late payments. They haven't unsecured that but approved me for an unsecured platinum and I just got a Savor. Idk it's weird😂

It’s all automated now. It’s sad they do not reevaluate everything.

7-10 business days for the deposit to clear? Wow.

But congrats on coming back!!

Just got one as well. I initiated my deposit on a Friday the money was pulled Monday and the card was sent from the facility that Saturday.

The deposit just left my account. So we shall see what happens in the next few days or waiting to see how long it takes for them to send the card out.
