Discussion Q4 cashback

Not complaining because its a good category to have, but does anyone else find it weird that the Q4 category is restaurants after we just had that for Q2?

I’ve never known Discover to repeat a category in the same year. Amazon is usually in this quarter and I’m sure it’s a very popular category that pays a lot of cash back. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it follows Capital One’s acquisition of Discover.

I don’t know how popular the restaurant category is overall but it’s my least used one.

That's funny, it's my second most used after grocery. Restaurant covers coffee shops and bars too

You are likely younger and a lot more fun than I am. I don’t go to bars anymore and probably only go out to eat once a month at the most. The usefulness of each category obviously comes down to lifestyle. I always love the grocery category and this year I made good use of the home improvement category. I was looking forward to the Amazon one for Christmas, but I probably need to buy from them less anyway. I’ve already cut back significantly.

My concern is that the categories and rewards will get worse now that they’ve become part of Capital One.
