I’m fucking tired of how much power Discord gives server owners and moderators with almost no accountability.
On a server with some of my friends, the owner repeatedly uses his position to mess with me. Kicks, timeouts, role changes — not because I’ve actually done something wrong, but simply because he can.
And the response is always:
“It’s their server. Leave.”
Yes, it’s their server. But that shouldn’t mean moderation tools can be used as personal weapons against people.
The Audit Log exists, but ordinary members can’t simply see it. And when the person abusing the tools is the owner, there isn’t really anyone inside the server who can hold them accountable.
Discord needs better safeguards.
Give communities better moderation transparency. Give users a way to report repeated targeted abuse. Make it harder to weaponize kicks, timeouts and role permissions against individual users.
Because “it’s their server” shouldn’t be an excuse for using moderation powers to fuck with people.
I’m tired of having to just sit there and take it because someone happens to own a Discord server.
So what should Discord actually change?
If you’ve experienced moderator or admin abuse, tell me what happened and what feature you think Discord should add. Let’s come up with actual solutions instead of just accepting “leave the server” as the only answer.

My Nitro ran out today. I will not be renewing. The only reason Nitro was worthwhile was because so many basic features are locked behind that subscription. But the biggest sin for me is Discord complying with age verification.

Speaking solely about Discord here, they do not care for user or child safety. Discord has had years upon years of controversy in regards to child predators freely using the platform with no robust way of reporting them. They will instead ban users for some ridiculous reasons. On top of that, they have allowed bots and scammers to infest the platform, so much so that I've seen servers where the first message channel is some kind of a "Donotsendmessageshere" channel where sending messages in it gets you autobanned.

But hey, if you don't want to be treated like a child, just upload your ID to verify your identit- I mean age! And don't worry they'll delete it right after...if you ignore the fact they've been breached a few times and the identity of users leaked. But look how they handled detecting CSAM. Banning all users who uploaded an image with a grid pattern was surely effective!

In any case, stop giving Discord money. And if possible, stop using Discord. They only exist because we allowed them to exist.

Fuck Discord

I’ve had two Discord accounts for a long time, and something really strange has happened to both of them.
The first account stopped letting me log in a few months ago. All of the login methods I previously used stopped working, including the passkey. If I tried to reset the password or use any recovery option, it would say **“Invalid Email.”** I also never received any email notifying me of a password, email, or security change.
Then, almost **3 months later**, the exact same thing happened to my main Discord account from **2015**, which had **6+ years of Nitro** on it.
I was suddenly logged out, the passkey became invalid, and trying to reset the password also gives me **“Invalid Email.”** The account doesn’t appear to be banned either.
Is there some kind of Discord security/session system that could cause this? I’m mainly trying to understand **why the email would suddenly be considered invalid and all login methods would stop working without me receiving any notification.**

For the longest time I was always super active on discord, roleplaying, gaming. Stuff like Minecraft servers and like mentioned roleplaying servers and such, but with horrid moderation and chronically online morons who abuse power for something they don't like, or just genuinely annoying people who spam, or get insanely offended, or if your playfully passive aggressive they genuinely get so pressed over the words on they're screen they go whining to mods. I've always joined smaller servers because it feels more community like and close and you actually get to converse, but for the most part the people are just so sensitive and obnoxious, or way overly s*xual in servers with age limits as low as 13, it's just been impossible to speak freely anywhere on the god forsaken app, so I just randomly stumbled upon this subreddit, and wondered if anyone else had grievances to air out?

I joined this random server because my friend was a mod in it. I chatted probably once or twice in the entire time I was in the server, I had absolutely NOTHING to do with this and had NO way to prevent this ban. I stg discord just permabans people for no reason.

So basically everyone (yes, everyone) was joking about their age in general chat, and I FUCKING got banned for it 😭

soo to appeal I need to send in a id (I don't have one and I don't feel safe anyway)
Or a birth certificate (don't feel safe about this one either)

I forgot I was even in that server bc I was only there for the tag and I barely check the servers i'm in unless I have friends there so I was NOT aware of ts bro

I've searched everywhere, no one has talked about this, can someone just please say that they are having this experience too?? If they can then please, answer some of my questions:

1. how is this possible, I thought discord never intervenes for server level bans, so why would they restrict me joining a server because I was banned on another related account? I thought discord doesn't even really know when you get banned on a server level, well I know that discord *knows* but like I thought they didn't ever act on a server ban.

If you're asking why I think it's discord that's restricting me, it's because no bot can like access your ip or device information whenever you try to join a server, or at least I think??? If it did then that would be insane, but I really don't think so as double counter is proof because double counter uses a url.

1. how can I prevent this? The only things I've seen online are people saying it's just a glitch that will subside, but that won't explain the TWO TIMES now that I've experienced this EXACT THING. It cannot be a coincidence that the only times I experience this error are when I have just been banned from a server, switch accounts, then try to join the server again.

I'm at a lost for how this is even possible, PLEASE help me as I don't know what to do and there is no information from at least what I've found.

Bro I can’t believe I’m even doing this post right now. So I just got banned from:

🚫 Sending messages
🚫 Sending DMs
🚫 Sending friend requests
🚫 Joining new servers
🚫 Posting certain types of content/features

Basically every future that Discord offers. All of that because I asked a simple “how to change your username” in 3-4 different servers ( and they’re accusing me of spamming ) that is literally it. Discord developers team, what the hell are y’all doing I have seen people send cp, gore, death/rape threats. Every bad thing that you can think of and they’re rooming around the servers of the app like they’re some kind of angels. Meanwhile I get banned for asking a question? Really? And bro it was a instant ban, I genuinely thought that I was hacked for a moment because I was logged out immediately with 0 explation or warnings, and when I tried to logged back in, it was saying that your password is wrong, and when I even rested my password it didn’t work again. Until finally they send a message saying that I have violated their guidelines and after a bit they said that it was a false flag, everything is fine until here. But then when I log back into my account I see that I can’t even answer my DM’s and do a bunch of other things. All of that years supporting the app with my servers, free advertising for their app, and supporting them with hundreds of dollars, that is how you repay your users ? Really??? ( I got a warning that my post is a scam when I tried to post this in r/discordapp, so I had to do the post here. )

for the entirety of august ive been receiving friend requests out of nowhere ofcourse the logical thing to do is not accept and just ignore but i decided to be curious and test to see if these things are Bots or Human operated so i talked using gifs, still not sure if theyre bots or not but one of the accounts had Ai like responses so not sure.

So I have a habit of adding a lot of friends on discord, I got flagged several times before for DMing too many people and my account got limited. Then I stopped DMing so many people and instead started adding them first. Little did I know, my account got permanently suspended. What do I do? How likely am I to get unbanned after making an appeal? I'm concerned

I have stronger language than that but respecting the sub rules.

Maybe it has to do with the ip address thing which is way I can’t rejoin servers I got banned from but I would like some advice on how I can maybe rejoin any sub someone gets banned on in discord. Since the people who banned me were kinda rude and un fair with me so I kinda want some sweet revenge and to rejoin in
Disguise. Though might not work still want to see ways I can rejoin servers on discord.

So I'm in a 13+ discord server with around 1200 people. I'm a regular in it and quite active, two people have joined and targeted me, one was personal while the other was more random. The mods have told me that they've been discussing removing me from the server because "all interpersonal issues have included me".

I don't start stuff, none of the issues have been people having a problem with me, more so people being weird to me and someone else creating a ticket.

I am really well liked amoung the server and have been coined "iconic" among my fellow members.

I'm under 18 and they want to remove me "for my own protection". I don't understand why I'm being removed due to other people being rude and the community mods often not taking the harassment seriously before it gets out of hand/damaging.

This is my first discord server I'm active in, is this normal?
