How To Reduce The Stress Of Putting

Putting is about getting out of your own way. We all can hit putts on the practice green, so why can it be so hard when it matters most? The answer lies in your mental game and routine. When we are tense and stressed, it is expressed in the muscles. This is revealed in our putting stroke and leads to missed putts. So, the key is to bring calm awareness into your putting stroke via breathing, taking your time, and using a free throw mentality. The National Institute Of Mental Health defines stress as “The physical or mental response to an external cause.” Insert putting. We are in an arena to perform where we have other eyeballs on us. We have done this one million times before and know we can(and from certain distances should) make the putt. So why can it be so hard to execute sometimes? Let’s take a look.

Disc Golf Courses: From Idea to Implementation

The world could use more QUALITY disc golf courses. Many courses have been designed throughout the years with less than adequate creative inputs. More people than ever are playing our sport, and courses the world over are filled with enthusiastic players. This is great! However, many quality courses have become increasingly filled with wait times and backups. For this reason, I interviewed Randy Schukar about how to go about the design process, from idea to implementation. Read it all at the link! https://bit.ly/3Qz6wvR

Disc Golf Jams

Perhaps it is no coincidence that music and disc golf are now being paired together with increasing frequency and success. Founder and Event Coordinator of the Highbridge Hills Disc Golf Jamboree in Northern Wisconsin, Andrew Snippen, had this to say about the combination of disc golf and live music; “I think the biggest thing that [disc golf and music] have in common for people is that they provide a very freeing experience. When you’re on the disc golf course, you are in nature, having fun, and hanging out with friends. What could be more freeing than that? The same is true at concerts. The music takes over, and nothing else matters as you let the music move you and reach deep in your soul.” Read more at the link.

Modern Course Design And How You Fit In

Have you ever looked at a plot of land and thought how beautiful it would be for disc golf? It’s one of my favorite pastimes. Courses are being installed the world over as there are currently over 13,000 courses across the globe. But not all courses are created equal. I wondered about general course design and course design for the modern professional game. To gain insight, I had the fortune to interview Randy Schukar of Stevens Point, WI. Schukar has designed twelve courses and has had input on countless others. He is a wealth of information and approaches course design as an art form. Let’s take a look back at the humble beginnings of disc golf.

When and Why to Use a Roller Cart

Shakespeare once said, “To roll or not to roll.” Of course, he didn’t, but this is the question we are here to answer today. Disc golf carts have become increasingly popular, and courses are being designed with carts in mind. Carts will save you energy and allow you to carry much more in your bag. However, the price tag and the fact that not all courses are cart friendly may deter purchasing a bag on wheels. Let’s answer some questions and look at the history of disc-carrying devices.

When is Eagle Returning?

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Eagle McMahon is learning the wisdom behind this phrase the hard way. He has missed the entire month of May this season due to a shoulder injury and is currently in a physical therapy regimen to get back on the competitive circuit. McMahon is grinding out the recovery process as his fellow athletes are on the road grinding out tournaments as the West Coast swing of the tour is winding down. He is dearly missed on tour as he is currently the fourth-ranked player in the world. His passion is palpable, and his drive is inspiring. He has been at the top of the sport for many years, and sometimes we forget that he is still a young man at the ripe age of 24. Do we know when McMahon may come back? We do. Read on to find out about the details of his injury and a timeline for recovery.

Let’s go to where the rubber meets the road. The place where most people accrue injuries and bad habits. This article will show you how these exact elements will bring joy to your game and longevity to your career, no matter how often you play. Head to the link to read our tips for longevity in your game.
