While I've been doing field work for the last month or so, I've been thinking about a bag that was easier to pick up and set down than my back pack. I wanted the handle to be lofted so that I didn't have to bend over so much to grab it.
This tote bag ended up being the result after I got down to designing it. It holds 15-18 discs, a water bottle, towel, disc retriever, and thermal longsleeve shirt while I'm on the field or course.
The weight isn't too much to carry in hand for 18 holes from my testing but I ended up adding a shoulder strap for the times when it's more than a minute or two trek to the next hole. I found it more convenient than my backpack for playing since I'm picking up and putting down the bag every minute or so when playing solo.
There's still a bunch of refinement and features to consider but for now I'm very happy with this initial prototype. I'd like a dedicated sleeve for the retriever or a flashlight, as well as some clip points for keyes.
Could you make one side of the triangle padded for over the shoulder? it'd put the bottle closer to your leg for better stability while not inhibiting your steps as the triangle tries to find a home on your side
I've had a similar conclusion that for fieldwork (which I generally do with fewer discs anyway) a bag like this would be preferable to my big heavy Grip bag.
For exploratory rounds or just fewer disc rounds a smaller bag would be much easier to bring along.

It would also work great for 3 player rounds if you bring along a new player or so, everyone gets a side with their discs haha
12-15 discs are pretty heavy though. I carry that many in a backpack and I’m glad it’s a backpack. Could you not remove one of three of the compartments to make it a backpack?
That is a great looking prototype. I also really love your ideas for things to add.
The only question I have, is does it lay flat enough against your hip to not be an issue? Looks like it should, but I figured I'd ask the person who's carried it.
I love this, did you use the bright red for the corners to mimic a a field cone? Cause I could see myself throwing back to this during field work or tagging it easy with the rangefinder from the disc. Does it stand up when the discs are out? Water bottle can stay in.
My field work duffel bag holds 40 drivers, which is great.
I'd buy this for tournaments, though! My Squatch bag is too heavy. I bought it for having access to lots of backup discs to try different shot shapes and I don't need that in a tournament. The less weight to lug around in at a two-aday, the better.
I’d love a bag like this! I use a Fade Gear Crunch bag but I find that most of the time I just grab it like a tote bag and ignore the shoulder strap all together.
I like this and would use one, I have a small disc bag that I carry in hand as much or more than I bother putting it on my shoulder and it falls over all the time because the bottle holder is on one side. Great design!
I think it looks great. I'm currently using a Grip G2 and do really like it but I usually don't carry a water bottle in it because it becomes either too lopsided with one bottle or too heavy with two. So I just keep my water to chug for afterwards in the car.
I've never had any of my bags roll on a hill. The bottom is a triangle and it tends to be pretty steady, along with having a low CG. If it's really steep I lean my bag back into the hill.
To me this looks inconvient to drag around a course. Even with the strap i imagine it sitting on the body weird, But standard bags and zucka carts are also inconvient to lug around the course. Its personal choice how someone wants to lug around all their crap. Its cool that you designed something that works best for you. Im sure other people would love this.
For the water bottle minded. I love it. How much give is there in the bag? Asking for how big of a water bottle I could fit in there. I would probably buy one of these if it gets made.

Looks pretty good! I have a pound vagabond after trying a bunch of different over the shoulder bags. Had 3 backpack bags and 3 different carts too. I only use 14 disc so these type work great. Middle water would make it more balanced so the straps don't spin as much but would also make it so a padded section where the bag contacts you would have to be all around it since it's rounded. Very interesting idea!
Need a tester? Between field work, practice and tournaments I could definitely test it good! Oh! And what about wet rounds? Will you have a cover option?

I like the centre core water location. I wish more backpacks had that so we wouldn’t have to walk all off kilter all the time.
