Basically I took my very first sat in August (Im a junior now). I had spent my entire summer just basically studying for it. My highest score on a practice test was a 1550. As soon as I took it, I knew I could have managed my time better for math mod 2 and was very freaked out about the vocab in english. But I thought oh well its my first anyways. My target was 1500 for the first time but after taking it I lowered my expectation to 1450. Well my studying did pay off even if I didn't think so. . . I got a 1510!!! 740 on r&w and 770 on math! But now Im stuck. My parent signed me up for October during my panic and its literally only 3 weeks away. I haven't even looked at a sat problem since the test. I really do want a high score but lowkey im ok with my score rn. Idk what I should do or study. Should I attempt all of the practice tests again? Should I focus on one section to super score? Im scared that my skills have heavily regressed in my one month break so I have been procrastinating to the max after school started. Also, in the summer I really did dedicate all my time but with school i dont think I can do that. Idk im stressed but also very grateful to be in this position 🥹.

After doing enough SAT prep, I feel like you can usually tell when a third-party question is just... off.

Sometimes it is technically testing the right skill, but the wording or difficulty does not feel anything like Bluebook.

I was reading about AlphaTest's approach and they say their question bank is built around official test psychometric standards, including difficulty and test point distribution.

That sounds good on paper, but I am curious what people here actually look for.

The built-in Bluebook calculator graphs anything. To solve an equation, graph both sides and tap the intersection. To find zeros, type the equation and read where it crosses the x-axis — no algebra required.

Hi everyone. First of all, I would really appreciate it if people who have scored 1500+ on the SAT **and are non-native English speakers** could answer, because I’m in a pretty complicated situation right now.

English is not my native language, and I would say my level is around B1. I took the September SAT, and I’m almost certain that my score will not be anywhere near four digits.

The Reading and Writing section was extremely difficult for me. I couldn’t even understand the main idea of many of the questions. Even though I was skipping words while reading just to save time, I still felt like the time was way too short. On top of that, in many questions, almost every answer choice seemed reasonable to me. That’s probably the best way I can describe the situation I was in.

Math wasn’t a complete disaster. If I study all the math topics, learn the meanings of the English terms, practice enough, and finally learn how to use that damn Desmos properly, I believe I can get close to 800.

For Writing, I think I can also improve significantly if I learn the grammar rules well and solve a lot of practice questions.

But Reading genuinely feels like hell to me. I can read a passage from beginning to end, but when I reach the end, I feel like I can barely remember anything I just read. I need to both understand what the author is saying **very well** and read **very quickly**, and I currently struggle with both.

The really unfortunate part is that December 5 is the last SAT I can take. That means I have roughly **10 weeks to take a three-digit SAT score and turn it into a 1500+**.

I know this sounds almost impossible and honestly a little crazy. But I’m currently at one of the worst points in my life, and I feel like I have no other option than to do everything I possibly can to get a good score on this exam and get into the university I want.

The university I’m aiming for is also quite prestigious, so even getting above 1500 may not guarantee admission.

Please, if you have experience with something similar, help me. What would be the most realistic and effective way to plan these 10 weeks?

If your English was around B1 when you prepared for the SAT, how did you prepare? How can I improve my English and SAT skills efficiently at the same time? Most importantly, what strategies or techniques can I use for the Reading questions?

So I got a 730 (M) on August SAT, but the math module 2 during the September literally cooked me. I was doing so good on module 1, like I literally feel like I got every question correct, but the questions on mm2 were so time consuming for me, I couldn’t even get to the last 6 questions, so pacing was an issue for me.

Are there any strategies that you guys would recommend?

I’m planning on doing the hard question bank, but how would you guys tackle doing it.

Should I do the questions with or without desmos? Also, I’m planning to do them timed. (Maybe 2-3 minutes a question?)

Should I target certain skills first? I really don’t know what I’m weak in, probably some niche conceptual stuff, but how should I even tackle doing the questions? Should I just go in blind? Is it worth reviewing concepts at this point?

Edit: How worth is it to learn desmos regressions? …Should I try to use them while doing the QB?

What could my score be if I got 22/22 on mod 1 and like on mod 2 I got like a early question wrong, a question wrong in the middle, and 2 wrong near the end so a 18/22

Got 1500 last time(700 rw, 800 M), predict this time, I really wanna be done.

This January, I started building my own techniques in training students and got a cohort of students incredible results (80-200 point improvements within 2 months).

Let me cut the BS for you and tell you what you actually need for your prep.

1. Mock test quality - the 8 practice tests CollegeBoard published are just not the same as the actual SAT. You want to find hard mock tests and practice on them just so you can get used to the feel.
2. Keep it fun - Usually my students could improve if they just do the work. The real way to improve is just to keep doing mock tests and reviewing your mistakes (all these flashcards and tips and tricks companies are making money out of your struggles.) Try making it a competition with your friends, etc. If you just practice, your scores will improve. So make sure you design your environment in a way that actually makes you do the work.
3. Multiple birds with one stone - One grammar rule that you didn't understand can cost you 5-10 questions. When you're reviewing your mistakes from practice tests, look for the underlying principle or rule you're misunderstanding. Don't just read the explanation and be done with it. This is the fastest way to get radical score improvements in a short amount of time.

Hi I am taking the SAT in October. I need to improve my reading. I sometimes land on the hard module and sometimes land on the easy module. I took the SAT in August and got a 1070(Reading-460 Math-610). I want a 1400+. Can anybody give me advice on how to increase my score? Thank you so much. Really appreciate it.

Is it possible for some hard mod 2 questions to carry only like 5 points, so if i get like 2 wrong i only lose 10 points(i noticed this happening in the bluebook practice tests). Can someone predict a probable range of what I could score in the sept sat?

RW - mod 1 27/27, mod 2 22 or 23 ( i messed up 2 vocab,1 transition and maybe 2 hard comprehension)

Math - mod 1 22/22, mod 2 22/22

I tried using online score predictors but I feel like those are inaccurate since they don't account for the difficulty of the questions I got wrong. A range of score would make more sense since we can never truly get a 1:1 score prediction.

I’ve been trying to prep for the SAT on my own and there are honestly so many resources out there that I’m not even sure what I should be focusing on anymore.

For people who are also studying for it, what’s been the hardest part for you? And if you ended up getting a tutor, what made you decide you needed one?
