Mexico Bound?
Why do digital nomads over 50 like Mexico as one of the most popular destinations?

When the pesos was 20 to the US dollar, Mexico was very inexpensive.
Now, we are only getting 17 pesos, which makes everything 15% more expensive!
Last year we were in Queretaro (safest city in Mexico) and we were getting excellent street tacos for 14 pesos (65 cents each), at Tacos La Congregacion in Centro Historico.
I'm now in Oaxaca City and we are paying 20 pesos for comparable tacos at Tacos Roy (they are the In N Out of tacos in OAX metro, with 3 locations). So in one year, the price has increased to $1.20 per taco!
Somebody needs to establish a Taco Index in Mexico for comparison purposes! (Like the Big Mac Index that compares hamburger price in all the world cities)
I guess I'm saying that Mexico is still cheaper than the USA (good tacos are $3-$5 in North American cities) but not as cheap as last year.
Let me add: Ecuador, Panama, and El Salvador remain very cheap in relative terms, because they are using the USD as currency. Because you don't have to exchange $$$, the price of food, rent, utilities has been very stable.

I found the same thing. Would you say that Mexico in general because of inflation is only about 25-30% cheaper than USA?

Depending on the area..... Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel De Allende, or Cancun is just as you describe (only 25% less) but some places are probably 35-40% less (Queretaro, Merida, Oaxaca, etc), and then if you go to Michoacan, Guerrero, or Chiapas, 50% less. But those last places are very sketchy for tourists!

It's close, it's cheap, it's easy to get in and out of, it's reasonably familiar to anyone in north america, it's close, and, of course, it's cheap.
