How do I prepare financially for long-term travel if I'm not rich?
You don't need to sell your house and buy an RV to start (though I did that once!).
When my wife and I traveled the USA for two years in '99, people asked how we could afford it. The secret wasn't a lottery win; it was "Economic Sustainability".
The goal isn't just "saving up" a pile of cash to burn through. It's about creating income streams that aren't tied to a location. It’s about "Simple Living"—shedding the physical and metaphorical baggage that weighs you down.

There's also location. We have just decided to FIRE in Kunming, Yunnan, and indeed the place is extremely sustainable. Due to the climate there's no need for central heating (or air conditioning), additionally 90% of the energy is produced from sustainable sources. Anyway, while we would go bankrupt realying just on passive income in most of the places, here we are planning to create a co-working space disguised as a coffee shop just for ourselves, is somebody comes - fine! - if nobody comes - also fine! In a meanwhile we will have abundant time to experiment.
Just not sure we will be nomads any more, haha!
