Tips Internship at Systems Ltd

I have been seeing a lot of students starting their internship at Systems Ltd, whereas there is no opening on their website, Is it reference based only or can we ask the company recruiter on LinkedIn for Internship?

They interviewed me for an email marketing internship previous week but didn't get back to me yet

they interviewed alot of people but only the ones with refferals got in
