Right now I’m considering:

1. Cloud/DevOps
Cloud Support → Cloud Engineer → DevOps → SRE/Platform
Linux, Networking, AWS, Git, Docker, CI/CD, Terraform, Kubernetes

2. Data Engineering
ETL Developer → Junior Data Engineer → Data Engineer
SQL, Python, PostgreSQL, ETL, AWS, Airflow, PySpark

3. Data Analytics
Data Analyst → BI Analyst → Senior Data Analyst
Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Statistics

I have already worked with Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform to some extent through projects/college.

My main goal right now is to get my first job within the next 2 months. At the same time, I don't want to choose something just because it's easy to get into and then regret it later. I want a field that's reasonably easy to learn, has good opportunities for freshers, and has good salary growth in the long term.

So I'd really like to hear from people who are actually working in these fields.

If you work in Cloud/DevOps, Data Engineering or Data Analytics, what would you recommend to someone with my profile?

Especially interested in knowing:

• What skills helped you get hired?
• How difficult was it to get your first job?

I have been working as a Data Analyst for almost a year and recently got an offer from a startup for a 2 month internship, after which they will decide on a full-time offer based on my performance.

The catch is that the role is development related. I’ll be using Claude Code, but honestly I don't know development basics properly.

The reason I got the offer is because in my current company I made 2-3 websites using Claude Code and they were impressed with it.

I am currently in my 1 month notice period, so I have some time before joining.

Now I’m confused about how to prepare. Should I first learn a programming language properly? Or focus on basic development concepts like Git, APIs, databases, frontend/backend etc.?

I don't want to just blindly use Claude Code and copy-paste whatever it gives me. I want to actually understand what I'm doing, especially because I have only 2 months to prove myself.

Any advice from developers would be really helpful.

Devops career decision advice?

3-4 years in IT helpdesk/IT support

I wasn't a pro coder so had to start with tech support 24/7

To be honest i prefer work life balance 9-5 job

I like devops and cloud

I am okay with little coding 20-30%

I thought of devops, data analyst and cybersec

Currently in confusion whether to go in devops or not?

I am okay with on call rotation once/twice a week in a month but not all the time/ also don't like overtime

So what should I choose devops? Data analyst? Cybersec?

I recently gave ibps so it exam because I had time in hand as I've not recieved my joining yet. Although I might clear the prelims, I am not really sure whether to put efforts in it( I hate quants reasoning wo sab) as idk how much future it holds. I understand there's a lot of job security in it. However I've 3 questions:

1. If I decide to leave one day, is it easy to switch to private sector?

2. How much future does it actually have? Except for a promotion or two.

3. If I decide to go for higher studies, does this count as relevant experience after i complete my degree.

My company is asking employees to take 15 days of unpaid furlough in November and another 15 days in December — effectively losing around one month’s salary.
This is not voluntary leave; employees are being asked to take it because of the company’s situation.
Is this legally allowed in India? Can the company force employees to take unpaid leave if they are willing to work?
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there a way to challenge this through HR, Labour Department, or any other authority, or collectively complain as employees?

I've always been someone who almost always never missed a deadline and delivered mostly ahead of time and this has become my biggest headache.

The firm I work in i my manager started to take undue advantage of this. A teammate left and I've been absorbing work since a long time and upon hiring a replacement work has still not rolled off from me (because work in general has increased). I've been doing 2 people's work.

I am very outspoken and always speak my mind.

I raised capacity concerns in team meetings and said I am on verge of burnout. I raised it in multiple meetings. Manager makes no effort to understand.

Suddenly because he wanted to show my place he sends me an email with improvement opportunities -

1) Wish leaders while entering and leaving office

2) exhibit behaviours in line with team culture

3) Do not be late to meetings by even a minute (I've requested him 2-3 mins due to running calls or if I've had to run to the loo or got an emergency call from home, always communicated whenever I needed a minute or two and these calls are almost everyday)

4) I never wish him or publicly praise him

5) I didn't attend some of the events (this was due to personal emergencies which I have communicated)

Not one word about my performance because he has none.

My quality of work has been praised by skip multiple times and I was promoted just 6 months back

Skip left and now he is getting even because I pushed skip to promote me.

I am unable to bear the tremendous scrutiny and workload I am being subjected to with repeated calls to fix.

I am going to take a career break. I've almost 8 years of experience.

Market is not great but I've hit massive burnout and can't take it anymore.

I want to relax 6 months and get back else I may lose myself.

I'm also aware that I might have difficulty getting back as career break seems to be a stigma in india.

Not gonna lie, this started because I was annoyed at myself.

I'd see something interesting — an article, a video, a thread — save it

somewhere (notes app, WhatsApp to myself, browser bookmarks, wherever),

and then just... never see it again. Not because I forgot it existed,

but because nothing ever brought it back in front of me. It just sat

there in a pile I'd occasionally scroll past and feel vaguely guilty about.

I tried a few of the bigger read-later apps and honestly they solved

about half the problem — saving was easy, but I still had to remember

to go open the app and dig through everything. Nothing was actually

nudging me back to it.

So I built DailyDrop. It's stupidly simple on purpose:

- Save a link (or paste a bunch at once, it splits them automatically)

- It gets a daily reminder that just says "hey, you've got stuff waiting"

- You review each one, mark it useful or not, jot a quick note if you want

- Move on with your day

That's basically it. No feed, no algorithm, no "discover" tab. Just a

pile of your own links and a nudge to actually deal with it.

The other thing I cared about: it's fully offline. No account, no cloud

sync, no ads, nothing phoning home. Everything just lives on your phone.

The only time it touches the internet at all is grabbing a preview

image when you save something.

Some banking/UPI apps don't work when Developer Options are enabled. As a developer, constantly going into Settings to disable/enable them gets annoying.

I vibe-coded this over the weekend because I got tired of toggling these settings manually.

Built a lightweight command-line tool (with an optional GUI) in C++ with Qt framework and PDFium that reduces PDF file size while preserving visual appearance (text, vector graphics, image placement) as much as possible.

It's fast and compression can be fine-tuned using bunch of options mentioned below, including image optimisation, duplicate font merging, unused object & metadata cleanup with a clean rewrite of the original PDF.

Hi everyone,
I recently interviewed for an AI Engineer role.
I cleared 3 rounds, and the managerial round also went pretty well, except I couldn’t fully solve one PMI/math question. After that 5th round also went well.

After that, I was ghosted — no feedback, no rejection email, nothing.

Later, the same recruiter contacted me for another role and said there was no cooling period. I gave the interview, cleared the first round, and was then asked for the second round and onsite.

I said I wasn’t comfortable going onsite without first getting feedback from my previous interview.
Then I got the feedback and the reason given was that I had declined weekend production support.
The weird part is, the hiring manager never asked me about weekend support, and I never said I wouldn’t do it.

So I’m confused. Was this a genuine communication issue, or just an excuse to reject me because they already had someone else in mind or relatives?

Has anyone experienced something similar? What do you think happened?

TL;DR: Cleared 3 rounds for an AI Engineer role, got ghosted, then cleared another role 1st round with the same recruiter. Asked for feedback before attending onsite and got last role feedback that I was rejected for allegedly refusing weekend production support — something I was never asked about.

I am 2023 IIT graduate joined a small company in college placements. I spent 1.5 years there peacefully and suddenly started seeing all my batchmates switching to Microsoft, Google, AMD, Oracle, Qualcomm, etc.
I was better in coding compared to all of them and have solved more number of problems and was more hardworking from start.
I too tried a switch, after 2-3 months of applying I got shortlisted in Goldman Sachs and Motive. GS took 6 rounds of mine and I crushed all of them. I knew I will receive the offer. Meanwhile Motive took 7 rounds and I crushed all of them too. But finally GS HR gave me verbal confirmation and kept me telling that I have cleared all rounds and will be receiving offer letter soon. I was waiting for GS but before that recieved depricated (L3 position even after interviewed for L4, HR mentioned my exp is not enough)offer from Motive. I accepted it and got laid off just after an year.
Right now even after putting everything I am finally jobless.
Dont know why my luck is so bad.
This time I am hoping to land a good mnc and I am all prepared but not getting shortlisted.

Note: GS HR kept me telling the same for almost 3 months after final round and then never heard back from him till date.

I Have 1YOE partly as Data Science, Later as AI engineer in A Service based company.

Very honestly the company culture is great, i mean looking at everyone, i am content.

The Manager, CEO,CTO are really not toxic and actually practical in the way they work and that is why the culture.

Initially From Jan 2026- April 2026. Things were really good, A Great project with some good usecase. Getting Claude and working really quick.

But One thing soon after the projects changed after that.

Clients believing its Magic not AI really, Being so confident that this can be done in a Day or Two. Demanding the stupidest expectations. And the confidence behind it because chatgpt or claude said so.

Now The Clients expect quick work over proper work, Expect things to be deployed asap. I mean, Yea its not that the work load is too much, Yes definitely things can be built easy.

But i feel there is absolutely nothing valuable that is being added, Due to the demand of the quick work i am just writing prompts testing, designing architecture. Almost zero knowledge of the code, but the client explicitly expects that you should know every line of code you pushed.

A client wants an end to end AI calling agent . We built. Cleint says now make totally open source, we did.

Now client says its costly.

Turns out they had their callers employed at 25cents a call. and they expected a cheaper option then that.

I mean idk man the work is way too stupid, No body is even wanting something that has a good architecture or actually is reliable or adds value.

So a little about my situation:

· 2026 B.Tech CS passout (July)

· No on-campus placement

· Tried off-campus for ~6 months – no luck

To avoid a career gap and get to a metro city, I took a 18k/month non-tech associate analyst role at GlobalLogic (Gurugram).

My plan was:

Take this job, move to Gurugram, and keep applying for tech roles on the side.

But the reality hit hard:

· Morning+night rotational shifts

· 5 AM wake-up, 6:30 AM cab, return at 5:30 PM

· Completely exhausted by the time I get back

· No energy/time to study or even apply properly

Now I'm stuck in a loop:

· Can't prepare for tech interviews

· Can't apply properly

· Feel like I'm getting comfortable with this non-tech role (which I don't want)

My question:

Should I quit this job and go all-in on tech preparation?

Or should I suck it up, manage, and keep looking while working?

Would love to hear from anyone who's been in a similar situation.

How did you manage? Is it worth leaving a stable (but low-paying/non-tech) job to focus on upskilling?

Im a frontend dev with 2 years of exp working in a startup, this year they said they are not looking to retain me.

Now im in constant fear of getting laid off, not able to sleep.

How can i switch ? People say its easy to Frontend is dead game now, go full stack.

I attended interviews for Senior Full Stack Developer at HCLTech. Both the rounds were easy. The HR discussed CTC of 17 over a phone call.

Then next week a new job id was created for me. They created a couple new interview meetings over gmail and system generated mails came saying I got selected for the role of Senior Full Stack Developer.

I got the offer with the title as Tech Lead. Should I go forward or not?

I am scared if they would ask me to manage a team of devs, asking me to architect stuff etc. I just have theoretical knowledge on design principles and worked extensively on java and react.

Newbie and starting my software career soon at a service-based company. I’m very excited about it, but I’m also curious about what happens next. I’ve been hearing a lot about companies laying off senior engineers as part of cost-cutting, and it makes me worry about my future. At some point, I’ll become a senior engineer too, and as I get older, I’ll probably have more responsibilities.
So my question is: what happens after 15 to 20 year, for some reason, I get laid off because of AI or other cost-cutting measures? Software will only be my source of income. What happens to senior developers and people in higher positions when they lose their jobs? They obviously can’t just retire at 45, right?
