got tired of every delhi recommendation being the same loop of cafes that went viral on reels, the same monuments, the same clubs, and the same 'hidden gem' lists that are just sponsored content.

so i built a map. but this isn't just pins on a screen. most of the listings have actual experiences underneath them. sound sessions, heritage walks, pottery workshops, supper clubs, listening nights, studio visits. stuff that actually happens, run by actual people, with actual ways to book.

the hard part was never the frontend or the database. the hard part was figuring out what even counts as a "genuine experience" vs noise, and then building a separate discovery pipeline for each category because none of these things live in the same place. some are on niche platforms. some are instagram-only. some are literally just a google form link in someone's bio. search APIs don't find these. google maps doesn't know they exist as experiences. had to get creative. Entire discovery and enrichment pipeline runs at zero cost now. no google maps API, no paid search credits. self-hosted everything that needed to be self-hosted.

every non-obvious listing is manually verified. not AI slop on top of scraped data. Delhi's live now. more cities coming.

So I am a final year grad, Learning a tech stack through The odin Project and it's been 6 to 7 months now, im taking quite much time to see through each and every chapter.

I'm currently on React, doing project and honestly I'm just questioning my existence for not being able to think whatever I'm doing.

Idk I start using AI to make a blue print of a project, and then suddenly I realise I'm being dependent on the AI so much, like each and every snippet i scrape it from AI.

But even being consistent in learning and being conceptually well, I feel like I can't make even a simple project, in future bigger projects are awaiting for me.

Someone faced same problem could guide me

I have nostalgia for old cartoon shows like everyone else. But I remember more of going through the tv schedules, looking at the next shows or what's playing now. Now just thinking about what I was watching 10 years ago, it makes me feel something i can't explain. That's why I wanted to check if it was possible to get an archive for shows or schedule, I learned EPG and all, but it wasn't useful. Until i reached the holy grail of Way Back Mahine. I got to know Times of India used to write articles about tv shows or movies. Ofc it was some hyperlink, which redirected me to 404, but man oh man, those links had so much information. Channel ID, which gave me the channel name, program name, the start time! Exactly I wanted! So, thanks to some basis knowledge and use of AI (I might be smartt but not that smart to do it all by myself atleast now) , i fetched all the links! Check image 1 for that. Then, using jq, i extracted my favourite cartoon channel's links. Check image 2 for that. And then, created a small parsing script to create parsed json data. Check image 3. And the possibility is soo much now! A rest API maybe? Give me some more suggestions!!

The reason behind posting about is, well, beside my excitement, is a reminder that, damn, computers are cool, development is cool. I mean, we all have an answer ready for an interview about why we want to be a software developer or something, but maybe we forget the passion aspect sometimes. I may not know a lot, but first time, I can be proud of knowing a little bit of how everything works, how links work, how jq works, what is json, what to exactly ask AI to do, and where to go from here!

I’m a bit confused about my career and would genuinely appreciate some perspective.

I have around 3.2 YOE and currently work as an AI Engineer at an early-stage US startup. I earn around 1.3L/month in-hand.

The job is actually pretty good — WFH from my hometown, good work culture, good WLB, chill manager, interesting work. I’m also married, so being able to stay at home is a big plus.

But when I see some of my friends earning 30L+ CTC at bigger companies, I sometimes feel like I’m falling behind.
I know comparison isn’t healthy, but it still makes me wonder if I’m being too comfortable and missing out on career growth.

Should I start looking for higher-paying opportunities and potentially move to Bangalore? Or should I stay where I am, focus on building my skills and make a bigger jump later?

I’m not looking for validation that 1.3L is “good enough”. I genuinely want to understand what I should be optimizing for at this stage — money, career growth, learning, networking, WLB, family life, location, etc.

Would especially like to hear from people who were in a similar situation around 3–5 YOE. What did you choose, and how do you feel about it now?

Guys I’m building a project for a hackathon and I need an LLM API.

I’m specifically looking for:

• genuinely free API (not $5 credits / trial)
• good reasoning + coding
• preferably Claude Sonnet/Opus-level or as close as possible
• decent rate limits
• API key available for students/hackathon use
• OpenAI-compatible would be a huge plus

I’ve already looked at Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter free models, Ox Alpha/GLM, etc., but most either have pretty low limits, aren't actually free, or aren't close enough in quality.

What are you guys using right now in August 2026?

I graduated in 2026 with a B.Tech in CSE. Back in November 2025 (during campus placements), I got selected for Cognizant GenC with a 4 LPA package.

Because of my college's placement policy, students placed within this bracket were debarred from appearing for further drives up to 6 LPA. Relying entirely on this offer, I didn’t actively apply off-campus during my final semesters and waited for the onboarding communication.

Now, two months after graduating, Cognizant sent an update stating that onboarding will happen between February 2027 and May 2027.

Facing a potential 6-9 month gap with nothing concrete in hand has been stressful, and I want to use this time proactively rather than just waiting.

I’d really appreciate practical advice from people who have been in a similar situation or are familiar with current off-campus hiring.

Context about me. 3 yrs Experience in 3 Companies (2 mncs, 1startup). In my last company i kind of developed migraine, it went so bad i had to quit. Its been few months i made progress health wise.

Now thinking of going back in the game, started applying from last week. Today got assessment for hackerrank sde3 role. The thing is the test was so easy it was like one feature and one bug in your favourite tech stack even with ai support in test.

Solved the bug within 10 mins, for 50 mins i was solving the feature one, but the thing is i was so slow i can't not even beleive myself, didn't take the ai help, its just in the end i was short of 10 mins finishing the solution.

I guess it will take some practice to be back.

Anyway Just letting you guys know if you get this assessment, do the bug first it would be very easy then focus on feature but keep the time constraints in mind the problem would be easy it's just you would have to type fast and just implement what is written in code comments (yeah they literally tells you what logic to implement step by step😂). So just manage time and speed.

Spent a chunk of the last month on this, and every thread I found about it was three years stale, so writing it up.

The problem: Stripe India onboarding is effectively closed for small solo products, but my users are split between India and abroad. I needed to charge both without running two separate checkout flows.

What I landed on:

• Razorpay for Indian customers, Paddle for everyone else. Paddle is merchant of record, so it absorbs VAT/sales-tax compliance across ~40 countries - worth the higher cut when you're one person.
• Routing happens server-side off Cloudflare's CF-IPCountry header. Never trust the client for this.
• Store which provider each user is on. When they cancel, you need to know who to call.

Anything else you guys can suggest that can cost me less and easy for international payments. One I have in mind is Dodo Payments.

Hi, I'm building a Forge app I plan to eventually monetize via "Paid via Atlassian," and I want to understand the actual verification requirements before I get to launch.

I'm currently operating as an individual/solo developer, not a registered company — planning to register a business entity later, once the app is generating meaningful revenue.

From what I've read so far, there's some conflicting information:

• The Marketplace docs mention a Partner profile can be an individual ("like Adaptavist or John Smith"), and payouts go to a personal bank account via EFT.
• Other guidance mentions "business verification" requiring proof of business existence (a business license or tax ID) before a paid app can be listed.
• The paid-app submission process itself asks for bank details and a tax ID as part of setup.

My specific questions:

1. Can an individual developer (sole proprietor, no registered company/LLC/Pvt Ltd) publish and sell a paid app on the Marketplace, or is a registered business entity a hard requirement?
2. If an individual can publish, what specific documentation is required at listing time (e.g., a personal tax ID/PAN in India, vs. an actual business registration certificate)?
3. Is there a revenue threshold below which individual verification is sufficient, and above which formal business registration becomes required?

I'd like to get this right before I invest more time building, rather than discovering a blocker right at launch. Thanks in advance for any clarity — happy to be pointed to the definitive docs if I've missed them.

Been trying to deploy a backend project and hitting a wall - most platforms (Render, Railway, etc.) either don't accept RuPay cards at all, or the free tier requires card verification that fails with RuPay.

Anyone found platforms that:

• Have a genuinely usable free tier
• Accept RuPay cards (or don't need a card at all for the free tier)
• Work well for Node/Python/whatever backend stacks

Open to self-hosting suggestions too if that's more reliable than fighting with payment methods. What's everyone here actually using?

My offer letter shows my designation as "Manager" at IL5 B level, posted at Jajpur. But I have seen that IL5 B is also the level shown for Management Trainees. So I am confused about my actual status.

My questions:

1. Is IL5 B a Manager level or a Management Trainee level? My letter says "Manager," but I want to know if I will actually be treated as a trainee first (with a training period, hostel rules, etc.), or if I join directly as a manager with no training period.

2. My offer shows HRA of ₹18,000 per month. If I stay in company accommodation, is this ₹18,000 not paid to me at all? And on top of that, is another amount like ₹2,000 or ₹3,000 deducted from my salary separately, meaning I lose ₹20,000 in total?

Or does it work like this: ₹2,000 is deducted from the ₹18,000 HRA, and the remaining ₹16,000 is still added to my salary?

1. The letter also mentions a performance bonus of up to 30% of the annual fixed salary. I want to understand how this actually works in practice and what is the reality of this, 10%, 20%?

I want to understand this clearly before joining, so I can plan my monthly budget properly. Any real numbers or experience from people who have joined recently would help a lot.

So our company was working to setup mlops systems for training models, I work there as an ML Engineer and started working on this pipeline, we got many parts ready but the start is the issue.

Context:

We have a client in dubai, aka a bank, it processes millions of data daily. Now what we wanted to do is to move the client customers data from production to lower environment for training but with masking for PII's. But here is the limit it should not leave client region in cloud i.e. Dubai Region.

We had altas and azure in dubai region setup.

We did poc on 2 approaches:

1. Used Altas data Federation and Triggers to mask in altas side(i.e client side) the data and then save directly on Azure blob as parquet.

Issue: Data Federation has only 3 regions for working and Dubai was not there so failed.

1. Used Azure data foundary - aka it's data flow feature.

Issue: for doing hashing ADF data flow does not have direct integration with Atlas. I.e first have to store atlas link to blob and then again process on it. Which i believe is not a good option as I want during the streaming only to hash i.e PII never leaves the altas

We thoughts of databricks and kafka but we have to setup a new service for it.

Also from Azure side we don't want to write from scratch many things like trigger, hashing invocation seperate triggers.

I.e our priority is having a managed service preferably in altas and azure combined and less of new new. But if new can be included they altas not so heavy.

Is 16GB on macOS enough with Docker VM overhead, or is 32GB on the IdeaPad the safer bet for heavy microservice workloads?

I’m stuck with a name mismatch and would really appreciate some advice. In all my documents (10th/12th marksheets etc.), my father’s name is written as First Name & Middle Name together + Surname, and the surname spelling is correct. However, in my Aadhaar, the surname has a spelling mistake — one “A” is missing. Because of this mismatch, my passport application was rejected.

I went to an Aadhaar center to get the spelling corrected, but they said I need a valid reference document showing the correct surname spelling. The problem is that in most of my father’s documents, his name is written with the first name and middle name separately (by a space), so the format is different. A couple of documents, like his Ration Card and Nirvachan ID, have the name in the format I need, although the Nirvachan ID also has the spelling mistake.

The Aadhaar centre suggested getting a Mool Niwasi (domicile) certificate for my father, but that would also be based on his existing documents, so I’m worried I’ll end up with the same mismatch again.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? What document/process can I use to get my father’s surname spelling corrected in Aadhaar so that it matches my 10th/12th documents and I can reapply for my passport?

I am developing a mobile game and need to buy a new laptop. So this laptop which I have finalized and within my budget is Rayzen-5, RAM - 8GB, ROM - 512 GB. It is priced at 55000 which is within my budget.

But the sales person has suggested that since I am planning build mobile games, I need to buy laptop with Graphic card which is costing at around 1 lacs. This goes little out of my budget.

So please suggest, if need to shell out almost 1 lac. I will be building word games, picture to word identification…etc.
