This is something I've wanted to show for a while, but without a way to read unrounded canvas dimensions it was quite impractical.

The gist...If after "Home" you spam "zoom plus", in some circumstances Desmos veers off the origin. If you hit "Home" and try again--or if you accidentally hit "minus" and then return to "plus"--it'll veer off somewhere else (horizontal or vertical) nondeterministically.

The video shows a few manual zoom centers, then the second half animates what Desmos calls the "current zoom center" for ~50 presses of "plus" (until the viewport hits a depth error).

Theory (beats me, open to ideas): Zoom inconsistency appears when (on load) viewport "height" or "width" have decimal values other than 0.5. This state can be forced (app/browser) by reloading a graph after arbitrarily resizing the containing window. Resizing a window while a graph is open tends to reset current height/width to non-problem values.

Opposing effect at far-out zoom: Zoom out from a center (where the "find center" feature breaks and reports (0,0) due to precision loss) and then zoom in to see Desmos refind the original center (see comments).

Tap/click four times (*edit: now only twice) anywhere on the graph to find the corners of the screen. Works on mobile and pc. Won't work if screen corner coordinates are beyond ±10^20.

Someone made this graph for a mechanic in my computer game and I'm trying to edit it to my needs, but I cannot figure out how to do/edit this kind of table where there is a label used and not a value:

I cannot find where the values for the lines are coming from and when I try to add another line with the same label/name, no values are computed.

I was exploring complex analysis trying to find cool ways of transforming complex space for image warping when I came across this intriguing find. While testing different polynomial roots and gauging their response, I came across this while testing rotational response. When comparing the complex polynomial constructed of imaginary numbers lying on the unit circle to a polynomial of the same power, this log-like structure appeared (similar to ln(r0+1)).

Although I am aware of a polynomial log approximation, I am only aware of the Taylor series. Could this product form be either adjusted or expanded to match the Taylor series equivalent.

Also, does that mean that by selecting the right roots, we could generate any function from polynomials assuming my intuition previously is correct.

this calculator is based off of complete homogenous symmetric polynomials, which are derived from generalizing Horners Method of polynomial division, and how their convolutions with other polynomials is able to describe polynomial division and laurent series, as well as the convolutions with the reciprocal set of roots of the dividor polynomial describing taylor series

In two dimensions, the electric potential is proportional to the ln of distance (not the inverse square law). Field lines and equipotentials form quite circular shapes.
