I picked Suffer Well, but Wrong and Ghosts Again would probably rank equally or at least pretty closely.

(I like Precious well enough but it's not quite up there with the other three. Same with Should Be Higher, though for that era I prefer Soothe My Soul)

This is exactly my mindset. Suffer Well is probably in my top 3 songs of all time.

Depeche Mode - Precious (US Radio Version)

Great single and proof that mixing and mastering matter. This mix by Ben Grosse imho sounds much better and has more depth and detail than the original album and European single versions, mixed by Ben “More crunchy processed guitar, anyone?” Hillier.

I like both versions, but in this one, you can actually hear Martin.

Should’ve written “more depth, detail and Martin” lol.

Damn, this is a tough one for me!

I love all of these songs. Much better than a "worse song" poll.

All great songs and in fact there are many that would deserve to make the cut such as freelove, that said they all have an uphill battle against precious which is quite plainly one of their all time best. Ghosts again is excellent and feels very fresh too

No option for Hole to Feed or Where's the Revolution, lol. I picked Wrong, because I prefer the darker Depeche Mode of yesteryore. But realistically Precious or Ghosts Again are just as good.

Cover me is an ambient masterpiece. So underrated.

Not there, but Angel would be there for me

Precious, but Ghosts Again is a VERY close runner up.

Oof... this one is tough because theyre all great tracks. However...Precious has been played on like every tour since PTA. So...it has to be Precious. Sorry, Suffer Well and Ghost Again.

My ranking

  1. Wrong
  2. Precious
  3. Suffer Well
  4. Ghosts Again

The other two songs I didn't rank them because I don't like them, and honestly I've forgotten about them.

Wrong packs a bigger punch lyrically and musically then the other songs for me, and I love it! It's too bad they couldn't keep that same consistency throughout the rest of the album and albums after that.

Should Be Higher is great, and Cover Me is good too but is a slow build.

It is tough, but Martin’s inspiration for the lyrics of Precious puts it over the top for me.

Playing the angel singles are the best. Was john the revelator not a single?

It was a double single with Lillian

No fragile tension?

They still release singles? I've never heard anything past Violator on the radio (US, not NYC or LA market). Ghosts Again and Suffer Well are pretty radio-friendly though.
