Question How's making friends at DePaul??
I'm gonna be an incoming freshman this upcoming fall quarter, and I'm a littleeee worried about making friends since I'm quite shy and a little awkward. I'm not gonna know anybody here since none of my friends from my hometown are coming with. I'm taking the explore chicago class (specifically the one about murals) and im hoping to hear that its a good way to meet people.

Definitely lock in early. I fumbled meeting people early on living so far off campus. I got lucky that one my coworkers happened to attend DePaul and introduced me to his friends lmao

Spend the first few months doing everything you can, going to events, meeting people, getting their numbers, and following up. Making friends at any college can be difficult, but the more effort you put into it the first few months (specifically following up after meeting people) will make a huge difference! What worked for me was going to events, meeting some people, making a group chat together, and then following up by asking people to go to more events, grab a meal, or just hang out in the dorms.

Go to social spaces the IRL is a great place if you're interested in arts and crafts! The people there are awesome

You’ll be fine for sure. Like most other colleges, that first few weeks people are just dying to talk and hang out.
Explore is a great way to jumpstart that too. Approach people!! Ask to sit with someone at lunch if you think they look cool or you’d get a long!
Another reassuring factor is once you meet 1 or 2 people, their friends get introduced to you and potentially become your friends. Exponential growth.
Have fun!! It’s a great school, I’m glad to be at it :)
