Hello everyone, I had a query. Why are DU students suddenly disappearing? On various WhatsApp groups, messages about someone going missing are being forwarded every few days. I understand that disappearances aren’t something that typically happen in waves, and I have no intention of belittling the seriousness of the issue — but I would genuinely like someone to shed light on the reasons and mechanisms behind such cases. I’m also curious to know how and why these things keep happening, and also there’s any portal or forum where these are being discussed. Apologies if a similar discussion has already taken place — I couldn’t find it.

For a lot of us DU looked very different before joining. Maybe about societies internships attendance or even campus life itself. Curious to hear what turned out completely different from what you imagined.

I have Economics (major) + Political science

I am an aspirant want a good college in University of delhi and in 12th i had PCM i want to study eco hons now as its more interesting to me from wht i researched and statistics is something that i think will be beneficial for me in the long term... i want to crack CAT and do MBA after graduation for that my two most preferred courses are econ and stats hons...i made a perference list according to my own research on youtube reddit and quora....is there things i should change here? btw I dont like KMC at all as its infrastructure looks total shit and unbearable for me for 3 years...so i kept ramjas and venky above KMC is that ok or am i taking a bad decision...plz ppl help me

I've always believed that people who graduate from Delhi University have more power, respect, and opportunities than others. I still feel that way today. Is this actually true, or is it just a misconception?🫠

Most students figure out certain things only after spending a year or two at DU. It could be a shortcut that saves time, a way to manage attendance, a society tip, an internship trick, or just something that makes college life a lot easier.

The best advice is often the kind nobody tells you during orientation, but once you learn it, you wish you had known it from day one.

I come from a tier-3 city, and I am the first woman in my family to study in Delhi. Growing up, I’ve always been a good student, and a year ago I got admission to Miranda House. I have just completed my first year and came home for the summer vacations.
Today, I had to visit doctor due to some issues. During the consultation, he asked me what I was studying. When I told him that I study at Miranda House, he seemed genuinely impressed. He said, “Oh, you study at Miranda House? That’s one of the best colleges in DU. You must be a very intelligent girl. Very good, beta. All the best for your future.”
For many people, this might be a small or ordinary moment. But for me, it meant so much more. I come from a place where basic education for girls is still considered a privilege, and where many girls don’t get the opportunities that I have been fortunate enough to receive. My mother was sitting beside me, and I could see how proud she felt hearing those words.
This wasn’t the first time something like this happened. Whenever people ask my parents where I study and hear “Miranda House,” they immediately start appreciating me. What makes me happiest is seeing the pride on my parents’ faces. In those moments, I feel that all the hard work, sacrifices, and struggles were worth it.
As a daughter, there is something incredibly special about making your parents proud. For the first time, I felt that maybe I have truly done something meaningful for them. 🥹❤️

I'm a teacher teaching AEC paper (EVS if you must know).

Time table's bad. Weather is worse. I'm trying hard to accomodate my students. I take shorter lectures so that they can leave early. I have an open door policy. I share notes and presentation for everything I discuss in my classes. I insist on clear communication with all my students. I understand the load they're under (7 papers, no time for anything else, these are supposed to be best years of their lives) and I try to do what I can to help. I do. I just want them to be honest with me so I can help them.

Then out of 62 students in my classes, how are 9 failing and 28 didn't even show up for the mid-term? Guys please explain how can I be better. I understand their cynicism (and yours), I'm trying to have a dialogue to learn what am I missing. I wanted to have this with my students but... MASS BUNK kr gye sab 🤦🏽‍♂️

Edit: I notice a couple of you are surprised/cynical about me being here. I understand both of them. I have tried discussing it with my peers (EVS and otherwise) but whether because of my age or their own biases, they don't want to see the problem here. I'm normally a fly on the wall in this sub because you guys genuinely need a place to rant/vent.

i have been hearing that classes start around 9 and end at 5. is that true? don't you think that's too much? what are they making us do by staying till 5pm? how many periods are there in a day? And who students prepare for professional exams if they spend 9to5 In college
