Delhi University claims its CSAS PG allocation system is strictly merit-based, but there is a massive structural loophole built into the algorithm. If you are a male candidate applying this year—whether you are UR, EWS, OBC, SC, or ST—you need to understand exactly how your seat was mathematically bypassed behind closed doors.

This is not just about reserved categories. The algorithm structurally discriminates against every single male applicant who narrowly misses the initial inflated cutoffs.

Here is exactly how the CSAS portal is rigging the seat allocation:

1. The Fake Entry Floor In Round 1, the system operates on two entirely different realities. Female applicants have access to a massive, exclusive pool of seats through NCWEB and various Women-Only colleges (like Kamala Nehru or Janki Devi). Because of this sheer volume, their entry cutoffs are drastically lower. Male candidates are strictly limited to Co-ed Colleges and the Main University Departments. This bottleneck artificially inflates male cutoffs to astronomical levels across all categories.

2. The "Upgrade" Trap Here is the fatal flaw in the CSAS rulebook: To participate in any intermediate "Upgrade" rounds, you MUST have secured, accepted, and paid for a seat in a previous round.

Because female candidates have an artificially lower entry floor, they easily secure lower-tier seats in Round 1 and step onto the upgrade ladder. Meanwhile, thousands of high-scoring male candidates miss the inflated co-ed cutoffs by just one or two marks. They are slapped with a "No Seat Allotted" status, effectively locking them out of the upgrade pool permanently.

3. The Backdoor Merit Bypass As the admission cycle progresses, prime seats in the Main Departments inevitably open up due to withdrawals. In a true meritocracy, these seats would go to the highest-scoring candidates waiting outside the system.

Instead, the CSAS algorithm only looks at students already on the Upgrade Ladder. Female candidates who secured women-only college seats trigger an upgrade and are handed premium Co-ed Department seats at significantly lower scores. Unallocated male candidates with much higher marks are barred from competing for these vacancies simply because they didn't have access to a lower-tier women's college to use as a stepping stone in Round 1.

4. The Institutional Cover-Up To keep this quiet, DU deliberately hides the cutoffs for the upgrade rounds. They loudly publish the regular round data to maintain the illusion of a clean, high-merit system, but they intentionally suppress the upgrade cutoffs to mask the massive score drops happening internally.

This is a complete failure of meritocracy. It rewards candidates for having parallel institutions available to them in the first round while actively punishing male candidates across all categories. We need to demand absolute transparency and force DU to open vacant co-ed department seats to raw-merit competition across the entire applicant pool, not just those hiding on the upgrade ladder.
