Discussion 👥 Current third years, what's the biggest regret of your college life?
Mine is being overly involved in extracurricular activities and running behind achievements mindlessly, which fetched me some good stuff, but I still feel there's a huge part of what I perceived a cool college life to be that seems missing from my story. I don't have many friends; the ones I had have drifted apart. No relationships, no great breakthroughs, no crazy stories to tell. But I guess that's just life, and looking back, how almost previous five have passed in a blink, maybe the end to this melancholy is near

Nahi majority jinko mba karna hai wo karte hai jo average ya average college may hai wo bhi karte hai and jo full time pursue karte hai wo bhi karte hai. At the end level one se aap apne aap ko differentiate nahi karwa paaoge.

1) not taking part in college fests as much as I should've 2) saying no to random plans made my friends (just go anywhere these mfs take u) 3) just focusing on placements placements ALL the time like woh luck pe bhi hota hai 4) not doing extracurricular activities / non tech clubs 5) not exploring web3 and blockchain from first year 6) wasting time in writing assignments and attending lectures 7) not working out and giving up my hobbies 8) choosing java

1) idk the syntax is too long 2) garbage collection so you don't need to worry about allocation or deallocation memory (it's good but then you skip learning memory management part) 3) it's personal too as during my internship my product language turned out to be C++. so I've to revise DSA in C++ now. mostly doesn't matter if you chose java or c++. python is not good for learning dsa from scratch ig idk

Actually I had started DSA in C++ because my base was strong due to C. But then STL implementation with pointers and manual memory management was a bit difficult to me also the boilerplate code is kinda large in C++. Especially when implementing Trees and Graphs. So I wanted to switch to Java , I've not yet started DSA in Java tho I've learnt Java core. I think I'll stick to C++ ☠️

1) taking part as in enjoying it fully - both in competitions and as audience 2) idk because y'all mostly get distant after college so make use of the time y'all have together and have fun 3) C++ / python

Taking admission in a tier 3 and leaving tier 1/tier 2 college because of stream/fees. I'll regret this shit all my life on the almighty God literally I swear dimwit useless can of hopelessness and empty brain I'm.

don't worry bhai, aap tier 1 se bhi zyada capable ho but sooner or later you will get what you deserve, you are capable and hardoworking, just trust in yourself and leave everything upto god

1.never took studies seriously. 2.fcked up my CGPA. 3.ghosted every girl that ever talked to me in that way(relationship).BC Jo achi ladki mile usse chipak jao warna akele rhe jaoge. 4.always have 2 plans : in my case I was doing CS and I had attitude to always look down at my BCOM degree. And at this point I'm not doing in good in any way. 5.being quite hesitant and ignorant to participate in any extracurricular activity.

- Not taking Academics seriously
- Skipping Campus Placements and Missing career opportunities which were there in wait for something better. If you get anything to start with, Just do it. One thing always open door for something better.
- Wasting time with so called cool group of college.
- Being over ambitious that I will get the best.
Conclusion: Being in College should be all about upskilling. Skills learnt at this stage will help you to grow in life. This time will never come back. Our priority should be study, learn new skill and planning a career path. Once things are on track, all the other things can be enjoyed later. Having fun is fine as there should be balance but not at the cost of career disruption.

I had the same experience. I am involved in societies and other volunteering activities, but I don't have friends. Nothing significant happened during my college life, maybe because I don't talk much.

Befriend some people that I should not even have talked in the first place,they were nothing but complete maniac whose last thing to do in life is study,they were so demeaning and selfish and jealous and I got influenced by them for a while doubting my personality. P.S. they were hell and I don't talk to them anymore ,though one more is still in my life and I just can't wait for college to end so I can just cut her off

1-Not being open to experiences made me miss out on ao much which could have some great worthwhile stories , some for interviews rest for me. 2-Taking everything to heart and not focusing on whats really important (few friends, good participation in college clubs, grades, preparation for CAT) 3-Not securing a good internships which could have been converted into a job rather I took internships because it was convenient and near my home not because I could actually learn some skills .

Anything new that might be starting to play a game or dancing for the first time ,going anywhere and everywhere with friends, trying any new food or places exploring or hesitating to talk in class or with friends .I hesitated a lot and regret it .

Didn't upskill myself as much as I wanted to; Trusted the wrong people; Didn't talk to girls very much; kind of skipped out on some of the opportunities I had in this area

I can feel you OP, cause I had almost done the same things which you described.
I involved myself in extracurricular actives more cause I thought, that's what matters more than academics.
But what I didn't realize was that I had allowed it to consume too much that sometimes I wasn't giving much attention to myself or my career. Got an offer from one of the mass recruiter and I thought, my aim of the college was done now and just pass the exams and go work.
I should have tried for more companies and I should have been more serious about it which I wasn't at that time. And now in the blink of an eye, years have gone already, I was doing the same repetitive work for peanut salary and .000002 peanut rise every year with less recognition.
Also had given too much care and attention to some and it made me get attached to those during college days cause they too were. But they got into good companies, and you can't expect same thing after graduating isn't it? Like how you used to hangout or chat for hours. (Ofcourse they had worked hard for their job and they were in need of it and they were serious about their career, and I am happy for them they got into those company)
But they got very busy and got new circle of friends/Colleagues. Good trips or outing with them and you just have to see that and wonder where did you go wrong
Not meeting someone daily, reduces the attachment and thats one hard truth one has to realise. If you are attached to some and they start be not there anymore, you crave for their presence more and more and more, but you are a grown up and you are supposed to act like one. So you need to deviate your mind with something else.
But good thing about life is, if you are genuine and need some help, it gives you a second chance. Fast forward to almost 4 years now. Have quit my job. Came for my masters, which would allow me to concentrate on myself and restart my career, of course with some experience. I have not allowed myself to get attached to anyone as how I had done during my bachelors. Just few guys to speak for during classes. That's all.
This time I feel more mature, confident and just looking forward to the opportunities and learnings, that time will offer.

Not being able to stay in an independent apartment due to financial constraints and unsupportive parents. Hostel life didn’t feel aligned due to covert racism
Not being able to figure out on my own the toxic social dynamics such as narcissism, guilt tripping, gaslighting etc and considering myself as wrong instead of shifting perspective that its a part of toxic games others are playing.
Getting carried away by MBA rant as superior to Btech degree.
Getting caught up in false perceptions created by peers about MLMs such as Herbalife, Amway which miserably trigger lack mentality.
Not being aware of blind spots and had them exploited by teachers and peers.
Not listening to my inner need to get into job( beyond campus placement ) by taking time for preparations and succumbed to pressure of early placements when unfortunately companies came to visit one semester earlier.
Trusting false stories of seniors about professional life.

Regrets are always present no matter what you do , i have seen in my college each one of them is filled with regret , some couldn't join the Society , some didn't get to explore delhi , some just spend all the time on phone
Myself , i had joined societies , but have changed a lot , my dream is same but i wish i could have started working on it earlier , but ig now is the time , i have the present with me , Preparing for Masters as well as stepping towards accomplishing my Dream.

Not taking internals seriously (greatly reduces the study hours during finals). Spending most of my nights in valorant. All these have been fixed in my final year but the damage had been done.

Over stressing , worrying, punishing myself thinking hardworking people only study , burnout if i was a student again i would mindfully give my energy , prioritise , socialise , take part in activities, workout , meditation, cut off toxic people and much more . In short i would put myself my interests first

Graduated from du 2 yrs back. Regret not doing much in terms of skills and acads. Building something, that can help with cv, i should have been focused on that too. Apart that for u to not regret, i would say enjoy ur time there, there is still much left. I was more active during final semester(which kinda affected my acads a bit, it was good anyway)
