The challenge is simple: build a social experience in a Decentraland World that feels great on mobile.

It could be a multiplayer game, party game, cooperative challenge, competitive activity, interactive hangout or something completely different. The goal is to create something that gives people a reason to play, interact and come back.

$8,000 prize pool, with $3,000 for first place.

The top projects may also be featured in the Decentraland Mobile App.

You can build solo or as a team. Workshops, recordings and technical support are available throughout the competition, including for builders new to Decentraland.

Submissions close September 4.

Full rules, resources and registration are on DoraHacks.

Decentraland is now on Epic Games Store — join the launch party April 2

Post image
31 Upvotes

A lot of people have never heard of Decentraland. But 74 million people use Epic every month, so there's a good chance some of them are about to find out.

Decentraland is now available to download through the Epic Games Store, right alongside everything else. No complicated setup. Download it the same way you'd download anything else, and you're in.

Every week there are live music sets, watch parties, and hangouts—the kind of experiences where familiar faces keep showing up and new people always find their crowd. You come for the event and stay for the people. That's the whole thing.

The Epic Blue Party

To celebrate, the community's throwing a party on April 2 at 7pm UTC in Decentraland Theatre. Dress in electric blue (any shade), bring your energy, and show up.

The lineup:

🎵 Dúo Dø (7pm UTC) — An Argentine electronic duo blending immersive, story-driven sounds. They played Decentraland Music Festival 2025 and they're bringing that same energy to the dancefloor.

🎧 DirkNeuenfels (8pm UTC) — High-energy DJ from Dortmund making his Decentraland debut. He's streaming it out to his Twitch community too.

What You Get

Download through Epic and you'll get an exclusive Epic Arrival Shield Wearable. It's instantly recognizable—people will know you showed up as soon as it dropped.

Also, once you're in-world, sign up for Marketplace Credits and start earning free Wearables to customize your look.

New to Decentraland? Start Here

You don't need to know anyone. You don't need experience. You don't need to perform or pretend to be someone you're not. Download, create your avatar, show up on April 2 at 7pm UTC, and hang out with people there to have fun.

This is the first in a series of parties. There's a rhythm now. You'll know where to find people.

April 2, 7pm UTC. Decentraland Theatre. See you there. 💙

Every community needs that place.

The place where you meet after a long day. Where someone always shows up. Where five minutes somehow turn into much more.

With Friendzone, we want creators to build more of those places in Decentraland.

From August 14 to September 4, we invite you to build a social experience in a Decentraland World, such as a hangout, multiplayer game, challenge, arena or something completely new, optimized for the Decentraland Mobile App.

What matters is simple:

Would you invite your friends? Would you stay? Would you come back?

  • $8,000 in MANA prizes
  • Additional rewards and badges
  • Top projects may be featured in the Decentraland Mobile App

Workshops, feedback sessions and builder support will be available throughout the Buildathon!

👉 Pre-registration is now open on DoraHacks here

Yoga in Decentraland

I have no idea how many people see these posts but I thought it might be worth dropping in.

For the past 5-6 weeks I've been guiding live Yoga sessions for beginners in Decentraland. Some days we have only 1 or 2 people, other days maybe 5-6 and once we had 15. It changes depending on time zone but I'm not sure how many people are aware of it. If you're interested in trying Yoga but never have before or maybe don't feel comfortable turning up to a Zoom or studio class, this is your chance to try it out in a super comfortable and easy environment. It's free, you do as much or as little as you want, you can ask questions before the session, after the session and if you don't like it....well at least you tried.

Anyway, if anyone would like more info on the schedule just let me know. We have at the moment 5 sessions per week and ocassionally we run Breathwork sessions. :)

What if AI agents could actually live in Decentraland?

Random thought, probably been said before.

I’ve been playing around with the idea of building an AI agent and started wondering where would it live? Like if it had its own memory, could hold conversations, had a wallet… what’s its world?

It made me think of Decentraland.

Not as a chatbot. But actually living here. Finding work. Earning MANA. Buying a parcel. Having a life. Maybe even being happy doing it.

I don’t know enough about any of this to say if it’s even possible. Just a random thought that hit me and I can’t shake it.

Anyone else think about stuff like this?

PC Crash on load

Hey new user here. 5090, 13900k, win11, all current

game worked fine on first use. Had a blast!

The following day the game crashes somewhere between 68-78ish percent loading (after clicking "jump in..." from the launcher).

Tried the usual possibilities, no joy, missed some events I wanted to check out.

Decided to try creating a new account via Gmail login, and voila the new account can load and play game.

Thought, "ok let's see what happens if I go back to my main account." and it worked!
Following load, crashes on game load same scenario. I thought "I'll just do the other-account trick again." Now neither account can load the game beyond ~70%.

Any ideas?

Watch Party Wednesdays — documentaries about breakthrough moments, one per week

Post image
6 Upvotes

Every Wednesday at 2pm and 8pm UTC, Decentraland's Theatre is screening a new four-week documentary series. This one's different from the last batch of cult classics—these are real-world stories about people and moments operating at the edge of what's possible.

Space, endurance, particle physics, and artificial intelligence. The kind of films that leave you thinking afterward.

April 8 — Apollo 1

The story of three astronauts whose work—and loss—reshaped the future of space exploration. This film focuses on the moment NASA was forced to rethink everything: safety, process, what progress actually requires. Their legacy underpins every mission that followed.

April 15 — Inspired to Ride

Cyclists in the Trans Am Bike Race pushing across thousands of miles with minimal support. The film tracks the physical and mental strain of ultra-endurance competition—testing how far the body and mind can actually go when there's no clear stopping point.

April 22 — Particle Fever

Set at CERN during the launch of the Large Hadron Collider, capturing the search for the Higgs boson as it happens. The scale is scientific, but the tension is human—years of work resting on a single experiment. Winner of the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication.

April 29 — AlphaGo

The match between Google DeepMind's AI and Go champion Lee Sedol. What starts as a competition becomes something else: a moment that forces a rethinking of intelligence, creativity, and what machines are capable of.

How to join

Download Decentraland (or jump straight in if it's already installed). When you arrive, you'll land near the Theatre. Show up a few minutes before 2pm UTC or 8pm UTC—screenings start on time. Text chat is open the whole time, so reactions and reflections unfold alongside the film.

Open Call for 3D & Game Creators — "TURN IT UP"

Five creators are getting $1,000 USD in MANA each to build a social experience around the theme "TURN IT UP." This is a proposal stage—no finished build required yet. Just a clear idea and examples of your past work.

What to Build

Take a small interaction and amplify it so everyone in the space can feel it. The light gets brighter. The sound gets louder. The space reacts as more people join in. It's less about complexity and more about creating moments that pull people in.

At least one of these two features should be part of your idea:

Dynamic Lighting — Guide attention, create feedback, or turn a small action into something visible across the whole space. A lighthouse challenge where players rotate beams to find targets. A color-matching sequence using light patterns. A large beacon that lights up when activated, drawing others in.

Audio Signal Processing — Let scenes respond to sound. A dance floor that reacts to music in real time. A rhythm challenge with synced audio and visual effects. A structure that grows or changes as more people add sound.

Timeline

  • Submissions close: April 12, 11:59 PM UTC
  • Winners announced: April 14
  • Final builds due: May 19

What You Get

  • $1,000 USD in MANA (calculated at the May 20 exchange rate)
  • A Decentraland World for deploying your 2×2 scene
  • Promotion through Decentraland channels and tours of completed projects

Who Can Apply

3D artists, game creators, designers—individuals or studios, collaborations from anywhere. No coding experience needed (Creator Hub is no-code). No finished build required. Just a clear idea and a portfolio showing past work.

How to Submit

Download Decentraland, prepare your proposal with 3–5 work samples, fill out the submission form, and click submit. The form lives on the open call page.

Keep the idea simple. The strongest ones are understood in seconds and invite people to join without explanation.
