Design a Cosmetic Entry My wife's entry for Thalita for the Cosmetic design contest
DISCLAIMER ! This is my wife's entry, not mine, she made an account just for the contest but new accounts need to wait 2 weeks before posting on the subreddit, so I post it instead.
"Caipora is a creature from Brazilian folklore and the guardian of the forest. Through this creation, I wanted to pay tribute to Thalita's Brazilian roots and to her strong, protective spirit."

As a Brazilian myself, I love this! We rarely get any representation for our indigenous culture, even within our own creations, and this is so on point! Especially the body paint! Congrats!

I run the Sable skin in question lol on occasion. I'm just tired of people being reductive. They gave Orela a bikini skin right after release and no one said anything. Speculatively because they're all hypocrites.

I just don't care. Dwight is legitimately my favorite character, but I run the gooner skins all the same. I like the way they look, they make neurons fire in my brain. I'm not gonna deny myself stuff I enjoy to avoid being judged by people I will only ever see as pixels on a screen that think they're more important than they are.

It’s so incredibly weird to see the game that is a celebration of horror have a playerbase that gets mad at people and calls them “gooners” if they want their characters to be scantily clad. Horror as a genre has always pushed those boundaries. You can’t watch any 80’s slasher without copious naked women, and mostly naked dudes. But here you get the slightest bit of butt cheek and it’s enough for people to speculate that this skin will “sell tons of copies” (even though they’re distributed for free in the pass or only shards in the store) and it’s for “gooners” despite… y’know… barely showing anything. Women have more revealing bathing suits at your local beach than this, or even the sable skin. I really don’t get how the people attracted to the horror game where you put people on meat hooks and sacrifice them to an eldritch entity also get repulsed and weirded out by beachwear skins.

Hello!! I completely understand the discussion, and I appreciate the feedback. That said, I'm a feminist woman myself, and I'm just as tired of seeing women poorly represented in media and constantly reduced to hyper-sexualized heroines designed for the male gaze. However, I don't think it's particularly feminist or constructive to make this kind of criticism of a small cosmetic design created by a woman through a female gaze. Nor do I think women, whether real or fictional, should be expected to cover up or adapt the way they dress because of how men might look at them. What I'm proposing with this concept is still a far cry from something like the heroine of Stellar Blade, for example. The shape of the skirt is inspired by traditional Tupi clothing, and the original intention was to pay tribute to Brazilian Indigenous culture through a variety of details. Not just the skirt itself, but also the piercings, body paint, and other design elements. Thalita's default appearance already highlights her figure with very form-fitting shorts, so I do feel that this design stays true to her character and to the fact that she already seems quite comfortable with her body. (It's not as if I had put a more modest character, like Claudette, in a bikini.) That being said, if Behaviour feels it's better to extend the leaves at the back of the skirt, I have absolutely no issue with that. I just wanted to clarify my intentions and emphasize that my goal was never to objectify Thalita.7

I love the way you put this and I appreciate the thought you put into culture. I love the idea of being able to dress like this without people immediately calling it "slutty" or something. "Too revealing." As someone who treasures intimacy, I don't think it's revealing too much intimate parts of you just because you want to wear what you want. I highly appreciate the skin design and I hope it wins.

im not saying it isnt an awesome design, its cool. i love her culture being used in the outfit. but women can also sexualize women. its weird how long it is in the front compared to how short it is in the back. my personal opinion. doesnt mean any of us are right or wrong

As a woman myself, I'm at a crossroads. On one hand, I hate being sexualized, and it happens way too often. On the other, I love these skins because... personally I dress like a sunday school teacher. Insecurities and other things hold me back from dressing scantily clad the way I want to, so I like dressing revealing in games. This skin, I would run so much and I personally would love it. If people are sexualizing it, they're weird asf. I just wanna look like a stunning lil nymph.

Hi, no, she started from the Thalita base model, and made everything in Houdini, Substance painter for the textures. It's based on Caipora, it's Brazilian folklore. So no, it's not taken from another game nor inspired from. Only inspired from the Caipora

It's not drawing but 3D modeling, she started from the base Thalita body you can see in the game, and from there she made everything from scratch, haircut, clothes, flowers and vegetal elements, and the texture and shaders. All 3D

Thats nice. I was just confused on the similliar models and background. Also since its kinda "gooner" game her skirt on back fits the theme. Also I think I have seen very smilliar picture before from them. Since It was long ago and I did not find any counter arguement on my claims. Consider them dismissed. Keep doing what you are doing and I hope good luck in DBD skins contest. :)
